um so apparently woj and/or bobby marks is saying on tv that the way this is structured the lakers will only have $23M in space on july 1?

i guess they can get to $32M on july 30. they'd have to make a promise and hope that someone is willing to wait. i don't remember this type of timing issue with past trades tbh.

yeah the way woj is reporting this the lakers are not gonna have a max slot salary. they might be better off using that space to sign some high level role players (3 and D wings, point guards).

i have absolutely zero confidence that they will identify the right players and sign them to appropriate contracts, so sign me up.

feel like lakers are walking a tighter rope than the warriors this past year. they seem committed to a 3-star team and idk who they can afford on min contracts. melo, pau, ty chandler? is smush parker still in the league?

I'm in no hurry to see the Lakers figure things out. They don't need a 3-star team, but I'm fine if they want to fixate on that and fill out their roster with second-stringers, broken vets and call ups from G League.

Warriors had 4 Allstar level dudes plus iggy and 55% boog. Lakers have a ton of work to do. Lebro is 35 this year and brow hasn’t proven he can log a full season of games which they are going to need. I think theiir best bet is to add a third all star but would love to see Pelinka take a swing at filling the cap space with randoms again lol.

The Warriors arrived at that roster partly through excellent team management and player development, partly through blindingly good luck. By signing Curry to his second contract when his ankles were still a big question mark, they got a break-out GOAT at bargain basement rates. Not going to happen again any time soon.

from what i can glean, i think there is a way if they delay the official trade until the end of july. the problem is with that no. 4 pick and idk if new orleans has to do what lakers want. im not clear but i think the lakers are assuming they can still make a full max slot with this delay.

yeah if new orleans wants to trade that pick i don’t think they could wait, also new orleans has no reason to do the lakers any favors now that the trade is public.

in any case, it pisses me off because Lebron/AD on any other team than the Lakers would be my favorite non-baseball thing to watch in sports. But it is the Lakers.

if he liked the raptors culture/team structure and wants to get out of canada, the clippers seem to be a good option

idk what kawhi has to gain with being on a team with AD and bron, especially considering his unrefined playmaking--he kinda needs the ball, and it's a waste to just turn him into the greatest 3&D wing of all time

hornets are in a terrible spot bc if they dont offer him the supermax they will be terrible for a while but if they do and keep him they will be mediocre for a while
