owners prob wldnt go for it but its the players (who are actually played as a % of revenue not the nominal value of their contracts) who have no incentive to think long term on this stuff since their careers arent that long, tho they might be enticed by just playing fewer games

kawhi leaving makes so much less sense now. siakim emerged as their 2nd best player and he's only gonna get better. onanuby will be back and likely be better, rest of the squad back for the most part.

i like this for both sides but especially for messy drama

like the lakers TECHNICALLY have enough (~$33 mil if davis waives his trade kicker) to sign another max deal but i think bc of cap holds on unfilled roster slots they actually dont quite have enough. they have ~$75 mil paid to FIVE players so theyll need a minimum of 7 players on the roster.

it was iirc: lonzo, BI, kuzma, zubac, hart, two first rounders for davis and solomon hill

so pelicans lose kuzma and zubac and gain/keep a 1st rounder and solomon hill (also preserve the timeline where they get the number 1 pick)

that timeline is the most valuable asset of all
