when your best player is an oft out of shape 7 footer in his prime... then the time is now.

He’s like 23

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:09 (seven years ago)

he's 24 and prone to getting out of shape/winded, i dont see his prime extending into his early 30s but of course would be happy to be proven wrong

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:19 (seven years ago)

Players who never jump tend to play forever

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:21 (seven years ago)

i guess i just dont see the use in waiting? how much better can he be than he is right now? they have assets to make a move if they want while still retaining good young players.

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:25 (seven years ago)

good call. great read:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26414950/inside-magic-lou-trez-la-freestyling-bench-stars

so many great 'trez whisperer' quotes:

He is aware of his influence on younger players. "Sometimes, the young guys are like, 'Why didn't you call me?' Because I usually have them go with me on the road, or when I go out to eat. But sometimes now, I go by myself, because y'all are probably not gonna be able to operate how I'm gonna operate. I don't want to put you in a position where you won't be at your best and I still can do it."

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 19:30 (seven years ago)

i don't think the nuggets should invest very heavily in a point guard. in big moments they're gonna run the ball thru jokic, plus murray and harris are gonna get their times handling the ball too. i think they would do fine with a patrick beverly or malcom borgdon type player at that spot. monte morris could even be that guy if his three point shooting is for real and he can D up enough.

i just think in general they need to beef up the rest of the roster. malik beasley, will barton, torrey craig, trey lyles etc are all nice players for the regular season grind but to advance beyond round 1 of the west playoffs i think they're gonna need more juice. michael porter jr is intriguing for this reason but given his injury history and the fact that he's played like 3 games total or something above high school ball idk how much he can be counted on in big games over the next few years.

personally i would not be jumping to pay paul millsap's $30 million option

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 21:43 (seven years ago)

yeah I’m torn about millsap. he’s been great this year and I wasn’t thrilled about the signing in the first place, but MPJ isn’t going to be ready to take on a big role next year, and it seems likely that the nuggets will either pick up that option or extend him at a lower AAV. I think picking up the option is probably the best choice given the team’s timeline

the issue as you and matt have identified is that the team has too many solid players and no real #2 option, and harris’ and murray’s arcs are starting to concern me.

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 21:53 (seven years ago)

I’m not sure why you guys don’t see Randle as a long term upgrade here. He’s really good!

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 22:21 (seven years ago)

In any event, I doubt the nuggets pay Millsap 30 million next year. It makes more sense to negotiate a 2 year deal with him and have extra money to spend on a small forward.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 22:23 (seven years ago)

having randle and jokic trying to play defense together doesn't seem great

call all destroyer, Thursday, 4 April 2019 00:19 (seven years ago)

Randle is solid defensively. Lakers asked him to improve there and he did it.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 4 April 2019 00:49 (seven years ago)

i always wait for the games to finish so i can watch but i just noticed that the hawks put up 72 in the first half against philly

Heez, Thursday, 4 April 2019 00:54 (seven years ago)

randle just seems like the kind of guy who will always be overpaid, given his pedigree

k3vin k., Thursday, 4 April 2019 01:56 (seven years ago)

The current Bulls rotation is a real late season Create-a-Player masterpiece. Couldn’t even be bothered to invent unique last names for all these obviously fake dudes. Two guys named Sampson! Leading scorer was something called Walt Lemon Jr.

it makes me realy sad I miss him but am very proud of my beautiful white gazelle

k3vin k., Thursday, 4 April 2019 03:31 (seven years ago)

had an insane year

lag∞n, Thursday, 4 April 2019 03:33 (seven years ago)

yeah gallo would pretty much be the perfect role player for this team

J0rdan S., Thursday, 4 April 2019 04:24 (seven years ago)

Gallo loves denver and it would make sense to bring him back. I really love how Gallo had this amazing season this year in the middle of a contract for a team that wasn’t supposed to do anything.

He had an awesome season a year ago and then he got a 7 million dollar contract!

embiid’s v the giannis’s is a pretty entertaining game so far

giannis is so good it is sickening

bucks look like a title team

J0rdan S., Friday, 5 April 2019 02:37 (seven years ago)

the thing about the sixers is that they don't execute well when it matters. they had three or four inexcusable possessions at the end of that game.

call all destroyer, Friday, 5 April 2019 02:45 (seven years ago)

there’s something KD era thunderish about it...

J0rdan S., Friday, 5 April 2019 02:49 (seven years ago)

and as always i question how much you can win in the playoffs in today’s NBA devoting that much offense to your center trying to score in the post

J0rdan S., Friday, 5 April 2019 02:53 (seven years ago)

if you ever wondered how badly the warriors could beat a d league team, turn on TNT

Giannis is the first player to have 45 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and ZERO turnovers in a single game since Michael Jordan in 1989!!

Brett Brown is a terrible coach. The only NBA head coach that I’m comfortable saying does a bad job.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 5 April 2019 15:09 (seven years ago)

Embiid takes 4 threes a game. This is bad coaching.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 5 April 2019 15:09 (seven years ago)

he’s kind of awful in the post tho

whaaaa?

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Friday, 5 April 2019 19:33 (seven years ago)

embiid secretly being bad at everything owns

ciderpress, Friday, 5 April 2019 20:07 (seven years ago)

i think you live with embiid shooting one or two too many threes per game because they do need whatever spacing they can get... also i think he got a pretty good pump fake and drive game for a 7 footer

J0rdan S., Friday, 5 April 2019 22:36 (seven years ago)

yeah he’s got a great pump fake so he needs to take some for game theory purposes

k3vin k., Friday, 5 April 2019 22:58 (seven years ago)

the kelly o game

ciderpress, Friday, 5 April 2019 23:43 (seven years ago)

Preoffs starting tonight with Pacers vs Celtics.

Interested to see how the rest of the season + offs play out for Bojan. He'll be the first option in the 1st round, and if he has a big series, someone might be willing to overpay him more than the Pacers would.

Also wondering why the Pacers use these absolute trash City Edition grey unis when they never ever use their absolute best throwbacks
