yeah the nuggets need to make a move this offseason for a legit wing

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 05:04 (seven years ago)

my controversial nuggets opinion is I wouldn’t mind seeing them sell high on murray

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 05:05 (seven years ago)

Murray for Randle

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 05:24 (seven years ago)

It’s possible that Michael Porter is exactly what they need

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 05:25 (seven years ago)

yeah idk about randle for that reason exactly, plus we’ll probably be picking up millsap’s option and I love plumlee now
I was interested in beal but he may have played himself into too much money this year

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 05:31 (seven years ago)

so do the nuggets want to get to the 3 spot so they can play pdx rather than okc or sas?

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 06:53 (seven years ago)

sorry pdx should be the clippers

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 06:54 (seven years ago)

I’m not afraid of the spurs

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 07:05 (seven years ago)

excuse yourself

you know who deserves sitewide mod privileges? (m bison), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 11:36 (seven years ago)

the clippers could present a real challenge for the nuggets and i dont have a lot of faith in malones playoff adjustments

micah, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 11:58 (seven years ago)

don't think nuggets should worry too much about the first round... i don't think they would have a great shot at winning in the second round w/o home court so dropping to 3 doesn't make much sense to me

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 14:43 (seven years ago)

anyone can get humbled by the warriors at home but last night made it seem to me like the nuggets just don't have enough top end talent around jokic yet to really run w the big dogs. harris and murray are pretty legit but millsap isn't giving you a ton rn and after that everyone else is like a nice lil bench player but.....

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 14:49 (seven years ago)

jokic i think could win them a game even in the second round and maybe they grab one more but i got pretty strong 50 win hawks vibes off them last night

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 14:50 (seven years ago)

they shot about 10% from 3 which doesn't help. millsap has actually been great since the all-star break...their biggest weakness is giving up 3 pointers on defense which is why they have no shot against the rockets and the warriors are a really tough matchup for them, though they've won a few games vs them the past couple of years

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 14:55 (seven years ago)

Millsap is too old. If they let him walk they’ll have a ton of cap room and Randle makes so much sense.

Isn’t their 3 point defense in 4th quarters the best in the league?

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 15:09 (seven years ago)

Millsap has been great lately and has carried the team at times but they need someone who can create offense instead of just feeding off Jokic. Isaiah Thomas was worth a try for this reason.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 15:10 (seven years ago)

I’m not super concerned because I got to see that Jokic buzzer beater in person and it’s like the youngest team in the league. Happy with the season.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 15:11 (seven years ago)

i met Pau Gasol on Monday. really nice guy

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 15:36 (seven years ago)

I’m not afraid of the spurs

the spurs will play disciplined defense and half court offense, and have two veteran stars, so they are no pushovers. the clippers seem more iffy.

A is for (Aimless), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 15:52 (seven years ago)

nuggs have issues around size and athleticism not sure if randle is the right guy for them

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:18 (seven years ago)

yeah he wont help on defense i think id rather have someone like the idea of milsap next to jokic

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:27 (seven years ago)

unless millsap completely shits the bed from here on out he’s getting his option picked up I think. I really don’t see it with randle

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:38 (seven years ago)

2014 milsap wld be good

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:38 (seven years ago)

ultimately the nuggets are ahead of schedule and are going to be fine

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:41 (seven years ago)

theyre doing great but its also pretty fraught trying to figure out who to resign pick up trade etc to get to the next level

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:44 (seven years ago)

think they were really banking on Harris improving this season like he's done every season before it:
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/harriga01.html
his injury history is really shaky.

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:47 (seven years ago)

he was looking pretty bankable, the injuries tho yes

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:48 (seven years ago)

what they really need is a point guard who can create. they’ve got a ton of trade pieces but idk who to target

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 16:55 (seven years ago)

theyre one of a few teams that could put together a package for Jrue.

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:02 (seven years ago)

intriguing def

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:05 (seven years ago)

get yr playmaking and defense in one

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:06 (seven years ago)

tho obvs hes not the kind of guy whos just gonna shred the opposing D

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:06 (seven years ago)

hmmm

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:07 (seven years ago)

i love jrue to death, feels like that type of trade would really change their timeline and i'm not sure if that's good

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:16 (seven years ago)

if yr contending for #1 seed in the west i feel like its fine or actually good to push allin now

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 17:17 (seven years ago)

yeah. i think i would do it

when your best player is an oft out of shape 7 footer in his prime... then the time is now.

zach lowe's piece on the clippers today has some amazing lou williams content. highly recommended.

He’s like 23

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:09 (seven years ago)

he's 24 and prone to getting out of shape/winded, i dont see his prime extending into his early 30s but of course would be happy to be proven wrong

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:19 (seven years ago)

Players who never jump tend to play forever

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 18:21 (seven years ago)

i guess i just dont see the use in waiting? how much better can he be than he is right now? they have assets to make a move if they want while still retaining good young players.

good call. great read:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26414950/inside-magic-lou-trez-la-freestyling-bench-stars

so many great 'trez whisperer' quotes:

He is aware of his influence on younger players. "Sometimes, the young guys are like, 'Why didn't you call me?' Because I usually have them go with me on the road, or when I go out to eat. But sometimes now, I go by myself, because y'all are probably not gonna be able to operate how I'm gonna operate. I don't want to put you in a position where you won't be at your best and I still can do it."

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 19:30 (seven years ago)

i don't think the nuggets should invest very heavily in a point guard. in big moments they're gonna run the ball thru jokic, plus murray and harris are gonna get their times handling the ball too. i think they would do fine with a patrick beverly or malcom borgdon type player at that spot. monte morris could even be that guy if his three point shooting is for real and he can D up enough.

i just think in general they need to beef up the rest of the roster. malik beasley, will barton, torrey craig, trey lyles etc are all nice players for the regular season grind but to advance beyond round 1 of the west playoffs i think they're gonna need more juice. michael porter jr is intriguing for this reason but given his injury history and the fact that he's played like 3 games total or something above high school ball idk how much he can be counted on in big games over the next few years.

personally i would not be jumping to pay paul millsap's $30 million option

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 21:43 (seven years ago)

yeah I’m torn about millsap. he’s been great this year and I wasn’t thrilled about the signing in the first place, but MPJ isn’t going to be ready to take on a big role next year, and it seems likely that the nuggets will either pick up that option or extend him at a lower AAV. I think picking up the option is probably the best choice given the team’s timeline

the issue as you and matt have identified is that the team has too many solid players and no real #2 option, and harris’ and murray’s arcs are starting to concern me.

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 April 2019 21:53 (seven years ago)

I’m not sure why you guys don’t see Randle as a long term upgrade here. He’s really good!

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 22:21 (seven years ago)

In any event, I doubt the nuggets pay Millsap 30 million next year. It makes more sense to negotiate a 2 year deal with him and have extra money to spend on a small forward.
