Harden and Paul were both mostly bad in that series but their defensive game plan (and the roster they built) was a master stroke. Stymied the dubs a bit got in KDs head made it about ISOing vs ball movement etc

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 27 March 2019 03:04 (seven years ago)

players whose game plan relies on drawing fouls are boring. like a baseball player whose goal is to walk as many times as possible. this isn't to take anything away from Harden, who's probably one of the best offensive players ever, it's just obnoxious.

I guess this makes sense because joey votto is my favorite baseball player. I guess some just aren’t able to appreciate the intellectual side of sport... 😐

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 March 2019 03:26 (seven years ago)

the nuggets scored 29 points in the second half tonight and barely held off the pistons, sheesh

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 March 2019 03:26 (seven years ago)

are we going to do this again? he wasn't efficient in that series.

I think that series is basically the 2016 election and I am a beardiebro, but come on. they had that series in the bag and then paul went down. and even so, they go 2-27 and they’re in the finals

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 March 2019 03:28 (seven years ago)

just as a counterpoint b/c there's too much hate here, he's arguably the most skilled offensive player of his generation and could get to 45 wins with lagoon and m bison playing the wings

no he wouldnt because i would intentionally injure him the locker room and then lagoon would say some nice things about me on twitter like "thats just bison being bison!!!!"

more than with you on this, they should have won the series. but harden still wasn't very good.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 12:21 (seven years ago)

contrast that wonderful clippers video with the lakers signature moment of the season being lance stephenson faking out jeff green after being eliminated from the playoffs.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 12:23 (seven years ago)

its not just that series tho harden has been bad in the playoffs for his career, and it makes sense that hes been bad because of his style of play

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 12:30 (seven years ago)

he relies on the refs reffing the playoffs the same way as the regular season and they don't

ciderpress, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:26 (seven years ago)

he still gets to the line a lot i think the bigger issue may be that playing so much iso is just easy for good defenses to prepare for, ball movement is a hallmark of winning playoff teams

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:28 (seven years ago)

particularly his 3pt% has suffered, the stepback 3 is a bad unnecessary shot http://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/3992/type/nba/seasontype/3

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:31 (seven years ago)

he’s added to his arsenal again this year tho. I am still a believer

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:32 (seven years ago)

cp3 will just get injured again leaving hardens game in the realm of theory where it belongs

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:36 (seven years ago)

tho i do think it wld be kinda funny if the rockets won it all considering everyone hates them so much

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:36 (seven years ago)

was watching the ncaa tourney with a couple friends and they unprompted started talking about how much they hate harden/cp3/diantoni lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:38 (seven years ago)

his free throw attempt rate did crater in the playoffs last year (from .5 in the regular season to .35) but that hasn't been a trend over his career.

his ftr is down to .44 this season though it's actually the same number of free throws with more field goal attempts. tough to say how that will translate.

i always find it bizarre that we talk about harden's fatigue level 10x more than any other player. there are some good reasons for it but it's still overemphasized imo. that said, if he's tired, getting to the line on drives to the hoop and having the legs to make the stepback are the first two things that are going to go.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 13:39 (seven years ago)

hes 2nd in the league in total minutes this year fwiw

That Tobias Harris trade is looking better and better for the Clippers.

Fetchboy, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 16:08 (seven years ago)

Clippers trading their best player mid season two years in a row for assets and still staying competitive is awesome.

east playoff race for the last three spots is pretty open between the current 6-10 seeds with less than ten games to go:

that magic win over the heat was huge last night, 6 in a row for them. I hope they get in would be good to get some new blood.

blake is kind of amazing now & a complete offensive player, part of me has wondered where the clippers would be if he was still on their team. but obviously turning him into a first and tobias and tobias into two first round picks is incredible.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 March 2019 18:26 (seven years ago)

yeah he is really good (slumping post asb tho) and its unfortunate he's stuck on that roster with reggie jax as the third best player

but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie), Wednesday, 27 March 2019 18:35 (seven years ago)

don't think any of those 5 teams can steal a playoff series so hard to get too invested in that race

ciderpress, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 21:49 (seven years ago)

i guess maybe philly could melt down to someone with good interior defense?

ciderpress, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 21:52 (seven years ago)

could see the magic or nets giving philly a good run

micah, Wednesday, 27 March 2019 21:55 (seven years ago)

just think it would be cool to get the nets and magic in there. not that that have a chance but just for something different and you like to see young teams building towards something and find out what their players are made of when it matters

While a trade for Davis seems like a pipe dream for the Knicks unless they win the NBA Draft Lottery and trade the No. 1 overall pick, the possibility of Durant and Irving joining forces certainly is in the realm of possibility, as the two stars talk almost every day, Windhorst reported on "The Hoop Collective" podcast.

"Let's say the Knicks don't get No. 1. Let's say the Knicks get No. 2 or No. 3," Windhorst said. "Think about a scenario where, in the same offseason, the Knicks could get Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving because I think it's in play. I think it's hard to trade Zion Williamson even for Anthony Davis because Anthony Davis only has a one-year commitment.

"But let's say they do get KD. Let's say that KD and Irving, and by the way, I’ve had someone reputable this week tell me their relationship is as strong as ever, that Durant and Kyrie talk every day and, if not, text every day.”

plug this messy drama directly into my vein

im fine with kyrie and kd taking over a team that's not got anything interesting going

ciderpress, Friday, 29 March 2019 22:24 (seven years ago)

Crazy that KD seems so desperate to leave one of the top 5 teams of all time.

DJI, Friday, 29 March 2019 22:36 (seven years ago)

I get it. what left is there to accomplish? and he's never going to shake the stigma of joining a 73 win team until he can win a title without them.

you know who deserves sitewide mod privileges? (m bison), Friday, 29 March 2019 22:42 (seven years ago)

I think the big plus for kd of going to nyc is how much he loves the media spotlight
