players whose game plan relies on drawing fouls are boring. like a baseball player whose goal is to walk as many times as possible. this isn't to take anything away from Harden, who's probably one of the best offensive players ever, it's just obnoxious.

harden does undeniably amazing things every game but he sucks the life out of the other 47 minutes

i had some n64 nba game back in the day in which i discovered if you did a fadeaway jumper from a certain spot on the floor the AI would foul you 100% of the time and you could just rack up points regardless of whether you ever made the shot, harden reminds me of that come to life

Harden is a hoops genius some people hate geniuses. He’s also kind of an nba weirdo hard to connect with on a human level it seems. Only thing that kinda bugs me about him is his clamoring for the reg season mvp award.

Harden and Paul were both mostly bad in that series but their defensive game plan (and the roster they built) was a master stroke. Stymied the dubs a bit got in KDs head made it about ISOing vs ball movement etc

more than with you on this, they should have won the series. but harden still wasn't very good.

contrast that wonderful clippers video with the lakers signature moment of the season being lance stephenson faking out jeff green after being eliminated from the playoffs.

its not just that series tho harden has been bad in the playoffs for his career, and it makes sense that hes been bad because of his style of play

he relies on the refs reffing the playoffs the same way as the regular season and they don't

he still gets to the line a lot i think the bigger issue may be that playing so much iso is just easy for good defenses to prepare for, ball movement is a hallmark of winning playoff teams

was watching the ncaa tourney with a couple friends and they unprompted started talking about how much they hate harden/cp3/diantoni lol

his free throw attempt rate did crater in the playoffs last year (from .5 in the regular season to .35) but that hasn't been a trend over his career.

his ftr is down to .44 this season though it's actually the same number of free throws with more field goal attempts. tough to say how that will translate.

i always find it bizarre that we talk about harden's fatigue level 10x more than any other player. there are some good reasons for it but it's still overemphasized imo. that said, if he's tired, getting to the line on drives to the hoop and having the legs to make the stepback are the first two things that are going to go.
