if your yardstick is NBA play, of course a bunch of college kids who've already been picked over by the NBA and most of the best talent drafted, won't look very good by comparison. compare them to state champion high school teams and they look pretty good. the cool thing about the NCAA tournament is not the level of play, but the level of effort.

pales beside your level of effort to endlessly state the obvious
― mookieproof, Friday, 22 March 2019 02:54 (five years ago) link
well, just calling it "bad" basketball is pretty content-free. by your lights I guess 99.9% of all the basketball games played around the world are "bad" basketball. which would make your statement, if anything, more obvious than mine. it's "bad" basketball all the way down.

xp dude i don't need you to explain college basketball to me. you are not quite as tiresome as reggie miller but it's close, and he doesn't make baseless assumptions about my 'yardstick' or 'lights'
the bad things were missed dunks and absurd shot selection and out-of-control driving and failure to block out and fouls 40 feet from the basket and tom izzo being psychotic. ja was good, though. and tbh i saw some pretty solid defense
― mookieproof, Friday, 22 March 2019 08:01 (five years ago) link
college hoops is always going to be significantly inferior as long as the 3 point line is shorter and the lane narrower than the NBA. the pace-and-space era of the NBA is only making this discrepancy more glaring. half-court offense in college is so clogged and frustrating to watch most of the time.

i love college basketball and always will, but yeah, by rule the players will be less good because they're all super young and there are so damn many of them.
i am glad that we all agree that tom izzo is lower than a piece of trash.

U of Oregon has been on a red-hot streak for the past 9 games, after a very mediocre injury-plagued start. They are better than their W/L record suggests. They might squeak into the Elite Eight.
