i think one of the things thats happening w tight officiating these days is that playing a super high usage game like hardens just isnt as tiring as it used to be, getting run into knocked down shoved etc will really take it out of you

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:01 (seven years ago)

so like how they play (and the refs call) curry in the playoffs

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:02 (seven years ago)

why can't dolan get a residency at the house of blues and sell the fucking team already

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:03 (seven years ago)

still remember Porzingis's rookie season where the announcers were praising how much his game had developed while he had the ball and he immediately took a 3 from outer space and they were just like, "oh, no..."

closer but not thaat close really i mean u straight up just used to be able to shove guys on the perimeter full arm extension lol, btw i am in favor of letting steph do steph type stuff if thats unclear its just looking at nba stats sans context doesnt really tell u too much IMHO

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:06 (seven years ago)

it's lower than all the 70s and 80s, m/l in line with most of the 90s actually, there are numbers to support this and everything idk

― k3vin k., Thursday, January 31, 2019 3:56 PM (ten seconds ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

please write a 500 word essay about 1. how long ago he 1990s were and 2. how the nba game has changed since then

ill even throw in a lil writing prompt, what wld steph or hardens games look like if they had to play the detroit bad boy pistons under the officiating culture of the time

― lag∞n, Thursday, January 31, 2019 3:58 PM (five minutes ago)

so we are in agreement that pace is kind of a red herring here. for example when we look at cool stats that not a lot of other ppl have put up one way of discounting that would NOT be to say something about pace

k3vin k., Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:07 (seven years ago)

increased pace is a noteworthy development in recent nba history IMHO, the style of play of the game has changed, those 7 seconds or less phoenix teams wld be slow now, and if youre looking at counting stats yeah theres more possessions

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:09 (seven years ago)

the way the game is officiated has changed the game certainly but idk how that would account for 7 footers being among the league leaders in assists for example, seems like the league is just prioritizing all-around skill sets more than before, players are more cognizant of what high value shots are, like 10 years ago a guy like manu's or chauncey billups' shot profile would really stand out for its polarity and now that's how m/l everyone approaches offense

just imagine jokic trying to make those passes while being manhandled by alonzo mourning, the tight officiating is the way the league has prioritized skills over brute force, which is good but just makes it not really an apples to apples comparison to previous eras

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:16 (seven years ago)

I'm gonna laugh when the knicks max out like...kemba walker and khris middleton this summer

k3vin k., Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:17 (seven years ago)

sounds about right lol

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:17 (seven years ago)

wishing the zinger well in his new home

Sources: All-Star Kristaps Porzingis is planning to inform the Dallas Mavericks his intent is to sign the qualifying offer in restricted free agency this summer.

NYT alert describes the Knicks as "the chronically failing team"

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:23 (seven years ago)

jfc lol

Dennis Smith Jr. or no Dennis Smith Jr., the Knicks grand plan is to sign Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. https://t.co/78kc4YJJTv

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:29 (seven years ago)

does kyrie even want to change teams

kd and kemba sounds like something that could feasibly happen though

ciderpress, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:37 (seven years ago)

lol the kyrie thing does directly affect me but if he leaves honestly it’s fine, life will go on.

still don’t think he will.

mookieproof, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:39 (seven years ago)

trading KP away undoubtedly *decreases* the chances KD signs there right? like part of the appeal was playing with another star...and now they have to hope kyrie actually considers leaving

plus, acquiring a few competent players in DSJ, DAJ, and wes might lessen their chances at the #1 pick?

k3vin k., Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:42 (seven years ago)

they could and should and probably will buy out DJ and Wes

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:43 (seven years ago)

maybe they could find a trade partner for DJ?

idk why i even do this to myself

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:44 (seven years ago)

i mean the nets play down the street from me and they're young and fun and have a good coach

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:44 (seven years ago)

stick with it voodoo, it will one day be worth it. nothing wrong with a side piece in the meantime tho.

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:50 (seven years ago)

its funny no one out there spinning free agent theories even acknowledges that kyrie told the celtics and the media that hes planning on resigning this summer, like obvs its not written in stone but he did go out of his way to say he was gonna do a thing and has since repeatedly reiterated his desire to build w the celtics long term and his general attitude and play are in line w that too

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:53 (seven years ago)

damn someone should've told the knicks

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:56 (seven years ago)

i don’t really tend to listen to what kyrie says b/c he’s hard to take seriously a lot of the time but his play and effort has been impeccable and suggest he’s totally locked in on this team.

and again, he would go from one of the best orgs in the league with great stable ownership and management to...the knicks.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:56 (seven years ago)

he and kd are weirdos who knows. doesnt really matter what they say otm. hope they both stay tho.

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:58 (seven years ago)

knicks are gonna max boogie is whats gonna happen

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:58 (seven years ago)

who was the last star free agent to sign with the Knicks?

omar little, Thursday, 31 January 2019 21:59 (seven years ago)

Tyson Chandler or Stat?

marcos smart (Spottie), Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:00 (seven years ago)

melo's extension, i guess

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:07 (seven years ago)

i've gone from buying the kyrie to the knicks conspiracies to the kyrie to the lakers conspiracies

J0rdan S., Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:09 (seven years ago)

ya melo forced his way to the knicks specifically so i think that counts

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:10 (seven years ago)

i guess the knicks executed this trade now bcuz it allowed them to dump two contracts but if KD and kyrie really wanted to go there they still could've made the necessary moves happen

J0rdan S., Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:11 (seven years ago)

its funny how the kyrie conspiracies have focused on the knicks and lakers when there are very obvious reasons he specifically wldnt want to go to those teams

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:12 (seven years ago)

xp yes. there was no imperative to do this now, and certainly not to dump kristaps.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:13 (seven years ago)

there was KP for brow rumors and they got Dennis Smith I mean this is just so incredible

Clay, Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:29 (seven years ago)

mavs r laughing rn kudos, luka and zinger cld be connecting for a very long time

lag∞n, Thursday, 31 January 2019 22:34 (seven years ago)

twilight dre jordan is a good knicks player

lag∞n, Friday, 1 February 2019 00:51 (seven years ago)

ESPN Sources with @IanBegley: Dallas is sending New York a 2021 unprotected first-round pick and a 2023 protected first-round pick (1-10) in the deal.

If DJ is on the knicks still within a few weeks then they’ve truly lost the plot. Unless they think think they can re-up him for cheap
