wow warriors fans seem kind of sensitive about how they blew up a lovable entertaining home grown team to build a shallow mercenary squad with no chemistry that everyone hates

i love to look at the espn basketball power index which has the boston celtics at #1 http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/page/Basketball-Power-Index/espn-nba-basketball-power-index
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 21:37 (seven years ago)
538 which is dumb does not https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2019-nba-predictions/
btw i cant figure out what the deal is with 538s "full strength" index the celtics are rated way higher in that than they are in "current" but they havent had many injuries? perhaps its account for the fact that both kyrie and gordon are coming off big surgeries idk shit seems too black boxy overfit to be useful
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 21:40 (seven years ago)
yeah I am puzzled by the 538 system too
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 12 December 2018 22:28 (seven years ago)
they should just have all the teams play basketball contests against one another to see who's better
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 12 December 2018 22:33 (seven years ago)
crazy idea but just might work
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 22:37 (seven years ago)
basketball reference has "simple rating system" u have to sort by the srs column in the standings, top 3 teams are in the east lol https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2019_standings.html
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 22:41 (seven years ago)
i love computer rankings, hate human "power rankings"
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 22:42 (seven years ago)
SRS is just point differential adjusted for strength of schedule iirc
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 22:53 (seven years ago)
ya
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 23:08 (seven years ago)
ok also 538s "pure elo" rating is almost exactly the same as their "full strength carmelo"
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 23:55 (seven years ago)
yeah i’d go!
― k3vin k., Thursday, 13 December 2018 01:22 (seven years ago)
idgi*
i wonder if its not a bug piping the elo ratings into the carmelo full strength i actually didnt check if they were exactly the same
― lag∞n, Thursday, 13 December 2018 03:45 (seven years ago)
gaem notes:
marcus smart is doing special stuff recommend checking him out an utterly disruptive defender and just plays w his head on a swivel always in the game doin stuff and has eliminated a lot of the bad things
timelord is a genuine phenom doesnt really have any idea whats going on out there but will earn minutes this season even once theres a healthy rotation of 3 very playable guys in front of him just on talent, pretty obvs an exceptional shot blocker and prob elite rebounder, needs to "figure it out" but if he does will be an nba man for a long time
c's prob didnt deserve to win tonight got a ton of soft calls down the stretch, wall was killing them then went down like his achilles exploded then was back in the game next stoppage lol prob a complaint re the refs and maybe life in general
the bad celtics offense was in the house tonight its really true that if the ball doesnt hit the paint they get some ok looks that they just cant hit
underreported aspect of brother brad switching up the offense hes leaving guys in for really long stretches especially in the 1st half like kyries played the 1st 11mins of the game then sat for seven then played the last 6
also really emphasizing having multiple playmakers in at the same time like wanamaker got extended burn tonight and they went w kyrie-smart-rozier down the stretch, partially that was cause they were missing horf-brown-hayward tonight but still
i like wave papi hes a young knucklehead but maybe rounding into one of those type of guys every team wants, also they did a scoreboard segment with him and he predicted the next fashion trends are man purses and short shorts

the thing that really strikes me about rob williams is how quick his jumps are; i was comparing to some mildly critical wendell carter vids that were going around and carter takes for-f'n-ever to get in the air but rob can just spring up whenever he wants. that's how he got those sick blocks on a.d., he can actually wait to get a sense of the move before jumping and still be there on time.

The @celtics have won 8 in a row, with a +182 point differential over that span. That is Boston's best point differential over any 8-game span within a season in team history. The last team to have a better point diff over an 8-game span was the Suns in April 1989.#CUsRise— Stats By STATS (@StatsBySTATS) December 15, 2018

they've had an insanely soft schedule but props for taking care of business as they say
― k3vin k., Saturday, 15 December 2018 04:12 (seven years ago)
soft but not insanely nola twice and "the surging wolves" once, also theyve done more than take care of business, literally the most lopsided 8 game span since 1989 kevin!
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 December 2018 04:15 (seven years ago)
"the surging wolves"
― ciderpress, Saturday, 15 December 2018 04:18 (seven years ago)
yeah they have taken care of business you could almost say they're due for a promotion, to contender status
― k3vin k., Saturday, 15 December 2018 04:18 (seven years ago)
love how the wolves surge it's my favorite wolf characteristic
the celtics have always had contender status in fact they have been the favorites
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 December 2018 04:22 (seven years ago)
somehow or other the wolves surge, but they are never resurgent :-(
