I saw Ariza getting off the bus when the #Suns (and I) arrived at the arena tonight. But I don’t currently see him warming up on the floor with the rest of his teammates. He is active, per the roster/starting lineup sheet we received.

Turns out if you can stay in front of Giannis he’s actually a minus on offense? Tough to ever buy Bucks or a Simmons-centric 76ers ever make a finals if neither of them learn how to score outside the restricted area.

I admire Giannis’ commitment to grinding through sub-20% outside shooting – it’ll come eventually since his form looks decent (and knows which hand is dominant).

Lol even in the post-game, Thad just shook his head and said “Gotta stay in front of him.” Basically, you either have a a spry, long-limbed defender or you don’t! Feel like having those willing defenders is what makes Raps/Celtics/Pacers so dangerous for Bucks/76ers in the post-season (Raps/Celtics being the obv best bet).

It’s true, but in my mind I was mostly comparing it to Simmons’ jumper, where there is a thrilling which-hand-will-shoot-with performance. I can imagine Giannis tweaking his jumper quicker.

Giannis had basically improved his 3pt % every year: 16% -> 25% -> 27% -> 31%, and his ppg avg progression would look right at 28ppg if he just hadn't slipped. Hitch or no, there is no way he's ending the season shooting 11% from 3.

they shd maybe just play him at center? a lot of his halfcourt looks are just post ups he dribbles into anyway he might benefit from playing off the ball more getting looks in favorable circumstances diving to the rim and so forth, then let him be a freeform ball handler in transition, only problem is bucks roster is kinda bereft of other creators

His destiny is to be a KD who can overpower PFs if he needs to – he's got KD limbs and Kawhi hands, he should be fine. He really doesn't need to spend any time doing anything but figuring out his form and just getting it right. Kinda wonder if this 11% is maybe due to Bud-era's first try at streamlining his shot and he's just struggling. Would explain why he still has a green light shooting as badly as he is. Historically bad!

and he's not in the same universe as kd as a shooter. never has been, never will be.

ATM Bucks should just recognize which teams will stay in front of Giannis and let Bledsoe control the game; otherwise, just let Giannis dominate games where he can. Funny that Thom Maker will continue to be the X factor that keeps them from being a really fun team. He's still super-young, really hope he maxes out his potential.
