I heard yesterday that Wall's trade kicker means Washington would pay $22 million if they trade him this year (I think that's the difference between his current salary and the max, because 15% of his entire contract is more than that amount). Max extensions do weird things with contracts - next summer once his extension is in it would cost them nothing because you can't make over the max, trade kicker or no.

yeah I appreciate him a lot, he does come off as prickly and maybe a little arrogant in podcasts sometimes but it’s not s huge deal
