watching the lakers in person the vibe i picked up was "team of dudes that hate each other" but it was the first game of the season and they had basically never played together before so hard to really put much stock in it xps

don't think the lakers issue will be chemistry seems like a talent issue

they were such a hard team to project but to me the way lebron could elevate an east team with mediocre talent was unlikely to transfer fully to the west; also i just don't like most of the other lakers players. like what is actually good about brandon ingram? i haven't been able to figure it out.

ingram was really very good the second half of last season, a lot of which oddly he played point guard

people were predicting 3 seed for them with a straight face it was amazing. they're gonna start 4-9 or something disgusting like that

yeah that seems like his best skill, so he's a tall/weak forward/pg hybrid which is not really 2nd-best player material

idk i wasn't willing to put in a doomsday prediction because the roster is so weird and has lebron on it but it definitely struck me as way less than the sum of its parts, like if you were trying to specifically construct a team where lebron wouldn't be worth +20 wins how much different would it look than this?

everyone i respect panned their 1-year vet contacts as soon as they were signed, so it comes down to how much you like the young guys and the overall roster fit on a 1-year basis. guess what! i dislike all of those things.
