yeah, i've been thinking harris and bev is the best pure talent return even if it's not a natural fit with some of the guys they have.

tbh trying to square butler's trade value with what pieces would actually help minnesota is nba advanced calculus. since the clippers have designed their roster with many expirings to have a ton of space next offseason i think they'd be fine trading a lot of stuff for butler. minnesota, in theory, is looking for young guys on kat's timeline but they're never going to get that so i think they should consider settling for a guy or two who can help now + one future flyer guy.

the hardest part for me is like why would you trade for 29-year-old chronic knee probs jimmy butler unless you can get other stars and make him the 3rd-best player on a contender? i like him a lot as a player but he's in a really weird spot value-wise.

while minny shd want players of around kats age thibs is def just in perpetual win now mode so a trade w the clips will prob happen especially since as you said theyre happy to let guys walk in order to clear cap space

then theyll strike out on the big names in free agency and get some not really good enough to help them contend guy prob

yeah to be clear i don't like the clippers free agency chances but they shouldn't be afraid to move guys given the contracts they have, they're not resigning those guys.

on another note i just watched the rachel nichols interview with mark cuban, my god what a staggering shameful idiot. i'm appalled at how he admitted to running his company.

I've been to all Bulls games at Phoenix since 2012-13 season. Last season was 1st one where Bulls fans didn't completely overwhelm Suns fans, vocally and in quantity. Curious to see if that reverses this season. Obv that depends on how well each team does leading up to it(I think the game this season is in March).

Question from a noob: is Towns really a liability at defence? Looking over at basketball reference, his DBPM is way higher than noted two way player Butler, his defensive shares ranks 24th in the entire NBA.

It depends on which stat you look at. He's extremely bad in defensive real plus minus (DRPM), and was even worse the previous year. But he was around 11th among centers in defensive win shares last year. I see him as sort of middle of the pack.

hes a good rebounder right? rebounding bumps up the numbers a bit. but just watch him. he gets burned back door and caught being lazy all the time... and just not aggressive.

this is from the beginning of last season but it has lots of other stats where kat doesn't come out looking good. i believe the consensus is that he improved during the year but still has a long way to go.

kat's footwork in that video is horrendous.
