yeah I feel like barkley doesn't get his due these days
― k3vin k., Friday, 27 July 2018 04:45 (five years ago) link
i think bc we got duncan and nowitzki and malone for PF competition and the whole recency bias thing. plus he's been a dickhead on tv for so long.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Friday, 27 July 2018 05:06 (five years ago) link
also maybe bc it's impossible to imagine a guy with barkley's shape/size playing in todays nba
― Clay, Friday, 27 July 2018 05:14 (five years ago) link
it's weird, he's listed as 6'6" but 6'4" is much more likely. feel like draymond is comparable as far as "how does this guy play this position so well"
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Friday, 27 July 2018 05:39 (five years ago) link
for real, also weird that barkley doesnt like draymond, seems like a man after his own heart.
barkley was one of my three fav players during the jordan era.
― InfoWarriors (Spottie), Friday, 27 July 2018 06:08 (five years ago) link
I’ve met Charles. He’s 6’4”, tops
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 27 July 2018 06:45 (five years ago) link
I have made the draymond comparison before but it's more of a size and mindset thing, they were totally different players. but both so fun and unique
― k3vin k., Friday, 27 July 2018 15:03 (five years ago) link
wasn’t Barkley responsible for the 5 second back down rule ?
― (•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 27 July 2018 15:18 (five years ago) link
no thats mark jackson
― micah, Friday, 27 July 2018 15:29 (five years ago) link
In the past month I've had a 20 yr old dude ask me if "that guy on the TNT show...was he any good when he played??" and seen some rando online trying to downplay MJ's titles because "the best guy on the Suns was Barkley?? that's who MJ had to go thru to win???". So yeah I think Chuck doesn't get his due now. Incredible basketball player. Amazed at his FG% during his prime while putting up those scoring numbers at 6'4".

Barkley was incredible at his peak, I always stan for the round mound as a player
He just had the bad luck of coinciding with the goat

I will watch the 93 playoff game when he drops 56 on the Warriors literally any time it’s on

Bruh can we get a full season with any of our free agents before people trade them
Do I need to start talking about whether klay will average 30 on the magic or hornets in two years to make it stop

Sorry not trying to make the a chuck thread but his highlight real is ridiculous

chuck had the misfortune of playing alongside MJ and karl malone who stole some PF thunder from him. and then by the time we had a chance to appreciate him, duncan and nowitzki came in.

better for the rockets obv but with non-unicorn centers making pennies out there it seems pretty good for him too

nvm the rockets won this one:
Shams Charania @ShamsCharaniaSources: Clint Capela’s deal to return to the Rockets is five years, $80M guaranteed — with $10M in incentives.

After a certain number of millions, the fact it is guaranteed money is of greater value than the chance at more millions when weighed against injury or other factors beyond one's control.

that makes me kinda bummed out that people don't remember Barkley as a great player

in some ways he makes me think of lebron, super strong and athletic guys who are elite finishers with a lot of ball handling and passing ability. lol, imagine if chuck and been even an average 3pt shooter.

marcus thompson is reporting it so there must be something there
Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic provided more insight into the incident:"In what would be best told by the late great storyteller Charlie Murphy, the 'streets' turned out to be the swanky Delilah restaurant in West Hollywood on July 18. Both Green and Thompson were guests of LeBron for this ultra-exclusive affair—which prohibited phones and cameras. None of the attendees expected the on-the-court drama to flare back up in this setting."Which is why everyone was stunned when Thompson, according to sources, out of nowhere attacked Green."No argument. No squaring up. No taking it outside."'It was a sucker punch,' said one source who attended the party. 'But, to be honest, it wasn't really a punch. It was more like a shove.'"Thompson noted the pair had to be separated but eventually calmed down and co-existed the rest of the evening.

yeah I didn't understand that first rule until last year, and still don't understand it tbh, seems like you can really awkwardly stumble off your pivot foot and still be legal as long as you don't put it down

yeah very strange. also had no idea that the gather step doesn't count as a step, that one they show of klay looks so much like a travel to me it's wild that it isn't.
― InfoWarriors (Spottie), Wednesday, 1 August 2018 16:22 (five years ago) link
I think about it like: you can always jump in the air no matter how many steps you've taken. so it follows that you can always lift a foot off the ground, whether its your pivot or not.
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 1 August 2018 17:14 (five years ago) link
but you can essentially take a step!
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 1 August 2018 17:47 (five years ago) link
Not before shooting or passing tho. It does seem like an unfair move. I remember practicing the up-n-under-to-1-foot-jumpshot last year and thinking I must be travelling; had my friend who played college ball watch me do it and we came to same conclusion as Nunn. Looks like a moving-pivot-foot travel but it ain't. You can cover so much ground by faking the fadeaway, then stepping thru and jumping across/into the lane to shoot.
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 1 August 2018 19:15 (five years ago) link
I guess it's the difference between colloquial concept of a step and NBA rules concept of it
― A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 1 August 2018 19:19 (five years ago) link
That's the same pivot rules that have been in place for decades. Watch McHale. Watch the Dream.

ive seen this sentiment around a bit and it doesnt scan to me i mean of course he cld leave but also he has a really good situation in boston and seems happy there too, legit shot at a ring the best coach prob the best org the team likes each other and so forth, like if they make the finals u really see him leaving? if they win a ring? i mean
― sprout god (lag∞n), Friday, 3 August 2018 02:56 (five years ago) link
honestly his injury history worries me more than the prospect of him leaving
otm, it's horseshit with no basis in reality--if he does leave it still won't be one in the win column for summer 2018 idiots who randomly decided he was dead set on playing for the knicks.

I’m just messing to razz up ilceltics. More fun to speculate and spread nonsense. We don’t really know Kyrie very well tbf who knows what he wants, same w KD, but I know they are friends and always go out of their way to hype up the other and everyone always speculated Kd is gonna bounce.
