they are gonna be must watch tv. if ingram/ball/kuzma/hart all make a leap this year all these other moves wont matter as much. but if they have to rely heavily on lance/beas/mcgee/rondo it could get really ugly.

toronto could run a smallball lineup of lowry/van fleet/green/leonard/jonas that would be quite good.

it's hard to see the east conference as relevant next season when the Finals roll around. maybe the Celtics with Hayward and Irving back make a noise. or maybe the Warriors lose some key pieces to injury. gonna be a very weird season all around because of James in LA with the Munsters.

From a fan's point of view, that makes excellent sense. I'd love to see it happen. But more people live on the east coast and seeding by conference allows some weak teams in the weaker conference to claim playoff spots and the owners might see value in that. And they own the league.

Only if the super teams are in the stronger conference of the two. LeBron's Miami Heat team got the benefit of western teams beating up on whoever emerged into the Finals, while they mostly coasted in.

its still a 100% chance instead of the current 50% chance of facing a true bottom feeder

also 1-16 doesnt address the root problem of players preferring big markets and warmer climates. imo this tendency should be combatted with salary loadings relative to lost endorsement opportunities, regional tax variations, and possibly even player perception

The average level of talent and ability in the NBA is insanely high. Some of the guys we consider NBA washouts or failures would be highly prized players in most other pro leagues or university programs.
