still thinking about 'the rockets went ice cold and it killed them'
― ciderpress, Monday, 9 July 2018 22:24 (five years ago) link
it's such a poetic phrase
im interested to see how harden comes out, he's been playing for that mvp trophy for four straight seasons wonder if he'll chill a little now that he got it
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 22:25 (five years ago) link
harden will put up like 29/6/8 like always
― ciderpress, Monday, 9 July 2018 22:32 (five years ago) link
damn! if the rockets push capela out the door because they are panting after signing melo, I will be aghast. but since they are in the western conference, I suppose I can't complain if they shoot themselves in the foot. it would clear a bit more space near the top that my team could compete to fill.
― A is for (Aimless), Monday, 9 July 2018 22:34 (five years ago) link
capella is restricted so he'll be back no matter what. but he could play on the qualifying offer and be pouty about it
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 22:54 (five years ago) link
some team could construct the offer sheet in a way that could severely fuck with them tho
― J0rdan S., Monday, 9 July 2018 23:04 (five years ago) link
some team should. capela is worth poaching, if the rox don't feel like paying him
― A is for (Aimless), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:06 (five years ago) link
too bad sacramento has drafted so many big men, this would be the perfect guy to throw a big offer sheet at.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:07 (five years ago) link
atlanta could, right? theyve got cap space
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:08 (five years ago) link
the nets maybe?
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:36 (five years ago) link
yeah that'd be good too
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:50 (five years ago) link
I don't think the Nets have space since Dwight's buyout is sitting on it like a dead log.
He'd be a good fit in Atlanta.

someone has got to take a stab at him
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 00:00 (five years ago) link
totally, houston will be significantly worse without him.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 00:01 (five years ago) link
john collins is gonna have a big year. looking forward to him and taurean jumping in to bigger roles
― Heez, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 01:22 (five years ago) link
i'm guessing neither the hawks nor nets think they're far enough along in their rebuild to consider throwing a big offer at capela though if i were them i'd certainly stop and think about it for 10 minutes. he's a really good player.
and if i'm capela i'd seriously consider playing on the qualifying offer if the rockets won't get in the area of $20M a year.

the celtics will win
― sprout god (lag∞n), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:16 (five years ago) link
plucky young celtics: we got through the eastern conference, gang! all that's left in front of us are the mighty warriors, but i know we can do it if we just--
warriors: *are literally shooting fire from their hands and eating ill-behaved tech mavens' children as a pre-game snack*
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:28 (five years ago) link
celtics as constructed are exactly the type of team that can beat the warriors, which will seem obvious in retrospect
― sprout god (lag∞n), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:30 (five years ago) link
i mean the rockets werent event the right type of team and weirdly never quite gelled and prob wldve beat them if not for a bad cp3 hammy
― sprout god (lag∞n), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:31 (five years ago) link
rockets shutting down the warriors offense for three straight games i feel like shdve been noteworthy but everyone just moved on from that
― sprout god (lag∞n), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:33 (five years ago) link
the warriors "figured something out" iirc
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:34 (five years ago) link
figured out how to wear out a team down to a six man rotation in the second half
― sprout god (lag∞n), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 02:35 (five years ago) link
Figured out Chris Paul can’t play 10 games without breaking down

rockets would have won if they didn't put on the worst 3pt shooting performance of the era
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 03:37 (five years ago) link
tbf they were also taking the worst shots ever

One creaky old in cp3 is enough of a gamble but Morey just gotta overreach and get Carmelo too, such an obvious disaster in the making

LAS VEGAS -- After all the antics and the rivalry he had with LeBron James, Lance Stephenson finds it "actually funny" that the two former foes are now teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers."Uh, it was actually funny that I am actually on the same team," Stephenson said in a conference call on Tuesday. "I am very excited to see what that brings and just playing with him, one of the best players to play the game, is going to be amazing. I can't wait to get on board.""I was actually surprised he made the move to L.A.," Stephenson said of James leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign with the Lakers. "I guess he needed a new look. I feel like just him reaching out and showing that he liked what I bring to the game is amazing. I just can't wait to be on the floor with him, actually get on the court with him."Stephenson says the Lakers want him to bring his defensive edge, be a veteran leader and just be himself. The guard, who averaged 9.2 points and 2.9 assists last season, isn't worried about the Lakers having a plethora of ball handlers and playmakers despite the fact that many around the league wonder how it will all mesh."It is going to give us a great advantage," Stephenson said. "We have a lot of unselfish guys and winning guys and even the young guys you can see they are the same way... we have a lot of potential and different ways we can win games and I feel like we are definitely going to show that this season.""I actually talked to [head coach] Luke [Walton] and he basically told me he wanted me to be myself, bring that defensive edge, be a leader on and off the court for the young guys and just bring that focus of winning and coming to compete every night," Stephenson added. "But the one that stands out the most is letting me play and let me be myself, and when you got a coach telling you that stuff, it is just amazing."
