as i understand it their paths to a third max slot are very close to closed off, oops
― call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:15 (five years ago) link
oops indeed. no idea how to look at this lakers team, either.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:16 (five years ago) link
my guess based on everything i've absorbed so far--they're done for this year and the plan is to flail wildly for any max player next offseason. i think it's a mistake at this point to assume that there's any depth at all to their plans.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:19 (five years ago) link
right. this is why i think ultimately the spurs and sixers deal will happen if sixers budge on fultz.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:20 (five years ago) link
Paying rondo 12 milli was ..... not smart
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:21 (five years ago) link
xp with the caveat that nba teams have better intel on fultz than i do i'd agree with that
― call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:22 (five years ago) link
re: lakers recent developments i was confused on randle but i really don't know why you'd let *both* randle and lopez walk, like you still need a frontcourt i think
― call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:24 (five years ago) link
Problem with kawhi anywhere other than either LA team is they don’t want a possibly injured (he’s prob not) guy who doesn’t want to be there and who doesn’t talk to let people know what he actually wants. He’s not worth a one year gamble for a team like philly imo

I have always counted myself among those who cautioned not to read the spurs' obituary prematurely (and we've always been right), but I don't really see a scenario where the spurs get home court in the west in 2019. think it's the end of an era tbh
― k3vin k., Monday, 9 July 2018 03:30 (five years ago) link
yeah lopez was actually kinda good and floor stretchy last year i'm surprised they let him walk

they won 47 games with one rly good player and finished 3GB from the #3 seed. they'll be better this year with whoever they get from the kawhi trade. it's not out of the question for them to be a top 4 seed.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 15:20 (five years ago) link
be interesting to see what happens with kawhi for sure, if he really has his heart set on the clippers shd the spurs even bother trading him clippers got nothing
― sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 9 July 2018 15:39 (five years ago) link
no, clippers dont have shit outside of tobias harris (who i kinda like but doesnt do much for the spurs now or in the future). lakers are not trading ingram so i think a lakers deal is sunk unless a deal elsewhere is imminent and magic panics
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 15:47 (five years ago) link
yeah id just hold on to him til the deadline if tobias harris is all thats on offer
― sprout god (lag∞n), Monday, 9 July 2018 15:48 (five years ago) link
i assume theyd throw in shai gilgeous-alexander (whom i know nothing about) and picks.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 16:13 (five years ago) link
kawhi making all this fuss then deciding on the clippers is actually super hilarious i just realized

its too much.

I’m told Clint Capela felt undervalued during initial negotiations with Houston—he’s reportedly seeking more than the 4/80m given to Zach Lavine, and was offered a contract in the range of the 4/48m given to Nurkic.— Kelly Iko (@KellyIkoNBA) July 8, 2018

in his defense its also a non-market for zach lavine and yet

im interested to see how harden comes out, he's been playing for that mvp trophy for four straight seasons wonder if he'll chill a little now that he got it
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 22:25 (five years ago) link
harden will put up like 29/6/8 like always
― ciderpress, Monday, 9 July 2018 22:32 (five years ago) link
damn! if the rockets push capela out the door because they are panting after signing melo, I will be aghast. but since they are in the western conference, I suppose I can't complain if they shoot themselves in the foot. it would clear a bit more space near the top that my team could compete to fill.
― A is for (Aimless), Monday, 9 July 2018 22:34 (five years ago) link
capella is restricted so he'll be back no matter what. but he could play on the qualifying offer and be pouty about it
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 22:54 (five years ago) link
some team could construct the offer sheet in a way that could severely fuck with them tho
― J0rdan S., Monday, 9 July 2018 23:04 (five years ago) link
some team should. capela is worth poaching, if the rox don't feel like paying him
― A is for (Aimless), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:06 (five years ago) link
too bad sacramento has drafted so many big men, this would be the perfect guy to throw a big offer sheet at.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:07 (five years ago) link

― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:08 (five years ago) link
the nets maybe?
― Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:36 (five years ago) link

― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:50 (five years ago) link
I don't think the Nets have space since Dwight's buyout is sitting on it like a dead log.
He'd be a good fit in Atlanta.
