the counter in theory should be posting up idk how it works in practice though. you can't score 3 points in the post in the offs because the refs don't call fouls

ciderpress, Saturday, 7 July 2018 16:05 (seven years ago)

rebounding too shd work but the problem is if u crash the glass that just increases the smallball fastbreak advantage, i think the whole thing basically comes down to that its so much easier to score in transition than the halfcourt these days

sprout god (lag∞n), Saturday, 7 July 2018 16:11 (seven years ago)

also feel like scoring in the post takes lots of skill, prob just easier to try and teach players jump shots

J0rdan S., Saturday, 7 July 2018 16:34 (seven years ago)

tim kawakami on zach lowe pod was talking about how the warriors really want post scoring and are using boogie as a sort of test run/proof of concept for future bigs they may want to sign (brow) but aside from someone like brow it just seems like post scoring in the offs is gonna be such a specialized skill, something that is done in 2 min spurts if a match up falls a certain way

this is my prob with a team built around joel embiid that nobody really talks about

J0rdan S., Saturday, 7 July 2018 16:36 (seven years ago)

If the NBA used FIBA goaltending rules it'd change things for the better. Ball is live when it hits the rim and either team can go get it without worrying about "in the cylinder" bullshit. Make your bigs matter.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 7 July 2018 16:37 (seven years ago)

I personally like drive and kick basketball a lot more than post up basketball and don't really care if big men are important or not

k3vin k., Saturday, 7 July 2018 17:04 (seven years ago)

Unicorns are more fun than brutes

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Saturday, 7 July 2018 17:39 (seven years ago)

agreed totally i love the current state of the game its just interesting to think abt the strategic shifts and what comes next

sprout god (lag∞n), Saturday, 7 July 2018 20:20 (seven years ago)

i hope hes good enough to be a true nba heel, two incidents in two games, off to a sterling start

Grayson Allen and Wade Baldwin get into it, Summer League has everything.

sprout god (lag∞n), Saturday, 7 July 2018 20:50 (seven years ago)

man, boogie is already sounding like he's totally drinking the warriors koolaid, this team could just be ridiculously amazing

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 7 July 2018 22:40 (seven years ago)

uhhhh do any ILHers know about this??

k3vin k., Sunday, 8 July 2018 02:27 (seven years ago)

Insane

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Sunday, 8 July 2018 02:50 (seven years ago)

Clay, Sunday, 8 July 2018 03:07 (seven years ago)

oh shit. i knew about cheryl ford, but damn.

circles, Sunday, 8 July 2018 03:15 (seven years ago)

max booker

Clay, Sunday, 8 July 2018 04:18 (seven years ago)

it's hard out there for a big...

bropez 1/3.4 to the bucks

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Sunday, 8 July 2018 21:40 (seven years ago)

the booker max is a straight 5 year. no player option in year 5

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Sunday, 8 July 2018 21:42 (seven years ago)

that one seems pretty defensible

J0rdan S., Sunday, 8 July 2018 21:55 (seven years ago)

yeah its good. he's gotten better every year

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Sunday, 8 July 2018 22:00 (seven years ago)

hes still has some major question marks imho but yeah no brainer for the suns i mean they suck anyway

sprout god (lag∞n), Sunday, 8 July 2018 22:29 (seven years ago)

Source close to Chris Paul tells me that CP3 is advocating for the #Rockets to acquire his good friend, Carmelo Anthony. Melo, 34, made a career-high 169 3-pointers last season on a career-high 474 attempts (35.7 percent). https://t.co/C8LT4rSpFF

Rip rox. Poor dantoni

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Sunday, 8 July 2018 23:40 (seven years ago)

lopez is a nice piece for the bucks.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 8 July 2018 23:46 (seven years ago)

Lopez and Ersan are nice adds. Think buds gonna have that offense humming so much better than what we’ve seen from that squad

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Sunday, 8 July 2018 23:47 (seven years ago)

tbh i’d still roll the dice on melo at a few million. it doesn’t make sense to me that he can’t just make open 3 pointers.

J0rdan S., Monday, 9 July 2018 01:02 (seven years ago)

melo's major problem on the floor seems to be that his decision making is wildly off, like he just doesn't seem to know how to adapt to the game anymore

Clay, Monday, 9 July 2018 01:21 (seven years ago)

Also, I don't understand cap rules but what's their situation with Capella and LMAM if they go for Melo?

Fetchboy, Monday, 9 July 2018 01:24 (seven years ago)

they have bird rights on capela, i think they can only use the midlevel or something like that on luc, which would leave the minimum or biannual (if they even have that) left for melo.

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 01:35 (seven years ago)

the rockets went ice cold and it killed them

ciderpress, Monday, 9 July 2018 01:47 (seven years ago)

Spurs not matching the Anderson offer sheet. Looks like rebuilding in earnest might be happening

EZ Snappin, Monday, 9 July 2018 02:22 (seven years ago)

my bf kyle :( i think he'll fit in well with memphis

i still don't know what to make of the spurs next year until kawhi gets traded. i presume a starting sf will come back in a trade (ingram or covington probably) and therefore the spurs didn't want to put long-term money on someone who'd presumably be a backup.

i hope the spurs keep my sometimes-dinner companion davis bertans on the team. seems like the market is p dry so they should get him $2-3M.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 02:30 (seven years ago)

Yeah, until the Kawhi situation settles it’s hard to read these moves.

The whole thing bums me out

EZ Snappin, Monday, 9 July 2018 02:42 (seven years ago)

i have no idea whether i should be cautiously optimistic or dismayed.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 02:54 (seven years ago)

The track record of that front office makes me optimistic in the long run but I can’t see how the team can compete in the short run. I wanted Pops to have another shot at a title.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 9 July 2018 02:58 (seven years ago)

in a tight market i really don't understand going after kyle anderson for decent money. i don't think i have a great sense of him as a player but does he have a standout skill at all?

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 02:59 (seven years ago)

xp their options cloud be like...ingram/kuzma/picks? covington/saric/fultz/pick? jaylen/pick? cool! future looks good and they'll be competitive enough now.

derozan? ehhhhhhhhh. competitive now, future looks questionable. could work if he learns to shoot 3s late in life a la jason kidd.

whatever miami or LAC has? grim.

----

kyle anderson is an elite defender and can do almost everything else well, too, except score.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:02 (seven years ago)

when i say "competitive", i meant home court first round in the west. title contention is not feasible with any trade the spurs do at this point.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:02 (seven years ago)

read a couple of pieces now (lowe, the ringer) about how untouchable ingram is for the lakers which for me is a deal-breaker. my question is how much do the lakers think he will develop if they get kawhi in free agency next year? he'd be the third option.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:05 (seven years ago)

i agree with that, it's fine to like ingram but he's not valuable on a team with those two guys.

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:06 (seven years ago)

But he might one day be an all-star!

Whoopee. So was Jamaal Magloire.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:07 (seven years ago)

like if they have those guys it doesn't make any sense to wait around to see if ingram figures anything out as a shooter or off-ball player

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:07 (seven years ago)

like do the lakers want to actually compete with GS? trade for kawhi and keep enough cap space to add a third star in the summer. but adding max'd kawhi next summer to an older LBJ plus youngsters who dont play defense yet plus oldsters who cant shoot is not beating the warriors. ymmv.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:14 (seven years ago)

as i understand it their paths to a third max slot are very close to closed off, oops

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:15 (seven years ago)

oops indeed. no idea how to look at this lakers team, either.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:16 (seven years ago)

my guess based on everything i've absorbed so far--they're done for this year and the plan is to flail wildly for any max player next offseason. i think it's a mistake at this point to assume that there's any depth at all to their plans.

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 July 2018 03:19 (seven years ago)

right. this is why i think ultimately the spurs and sixers deal will happen if sixers budge on fultz.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:20 (seven years ago)

Paying rondo 12 milli was ..... not smart

Hall of Fam (Spottie), Monday, 9 July 2018 03:21 (seven years ago)

xp with the caveat that nba teams have better intel on fultz than i do i'd agree with that
