lowe & arnovitz were speculating that maybe eventually they’d try and get rid of russ instead... that seems impossible to imagine to me but it tracks more along the lines of what i think is their intractable problem with his style of play as it applies to the playoffs

trading russ seems impossibl now tho considering "me and russ are friends and i like playing with him was a big selling pt for PG

OKC is truly stuck with Russ, but there are much worse albatrosses to have hanging around your neck.

from the spurs perspective, gotta be good that both philly and lakers feel like threats to get bron. spurs know that whomever they trade mawhi to is prob going to get bron, too, so they are asking for a lot if they know the other team will sign both.

spurs shd prob prefer to trade him to the celtics then since they wont get lebron (and arent in the western conf) tho then the celtics will be amazing but theyre gonna be amazing either way if u trade kawhi to philly or lakers and bron joins then youve created a new amazing team

also the celtics shd be willing to give up a lot to prevent kawhi + bron going to philly

obviously they had to do it and pg should actually be tradable on this contract but nobody's going to tell me that this is good team-building because it hasn't been and won't be. they're going to have to get out of the tax eventually and the price to do so will be painful. but hey, if i was getting these kinds of props:

would be interesting if they sign cousins to a one year deal as a tryout, now that they're not getting PG

it’s interesting tho... on the one hand you can make an easy argument for essentially punting this year given the state of the warriors. maybe lebron doesn’t even want to make the playoffs! but still, how many years does lebron really have left to waste?

it’s hard to construe this as a basketball decision in any real way. he could’ve signed a 1 year contract with any team and recruited guys to LA next offseason.
