another aspect to the whole Kawhi thing i just considered and correct me if i'm wrong on some points: that while the public didn't know it, it's likely that the team probably knew that Pop's wife was battling an illness that was likely going to take her life, and through all this he was coaching and handling the team, and Kawhi's absence and weirdness would be even worse in the context of all that, especially with Pop being a genuinely beloved guy and player's coach; Kawhi just acting in a way that was making Pop's professional life more difficult while his personal life was causing him ridiculous amounts of stress.

it would also explain a bit more a lot of the snappiness directed at Kawhi from certain guys, idk though, it's just speculation.

v v possible. altho nothing ive read indicates that kawhi had any beef with pop specifically, that most of his ire is with the org as a whole/med staff. but def fucked up.

that the spurs would be asking for a ton for kawhi and that the celtics would be trying to offer significantly less than that just seems like... normal trade negotiations to me?

of course, which is why articles about how the spurs really wish the celtics would put their best and final on the table are funny.

the narrative from Extremely Hurt Spurs Fans is that kawhi's uncle is pulling the strings and influencing kawhi so they can all live it up back home in socal. i don't think that kawhi would be passing up all this money* unless he really didn't want to be here. he's losing at least ~$30M by not signing this supermax extension, and if he gets traded to [non-LA team x] and signs with some other teams, that's another tens of millions of dollars he's passing up (which i why i think celtics should seriously consider taking on kawhi and then if he wants to leave, get some sign and trade stuff coming back their way. if he doesn't, yay for them).

Howard, 32, is yet to sign a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets, but the thought is he will soon be a free agent. Where will he land next? He reportedly has his eyes on the champs.
