definitely, especially since a lot of the rumors of his discontent were before the public comments. i don't take everything coming out of the kawhi camp at face value.

i cld be wrong but i dont think theyll deal horford or hayward cause that hurts their credibility with future big free agents, kyrie tho...

just gonna lay it all on the table here i want them to trade kyrie for kawhi so the celtics can have a complete starting lineup of 6-8 guys

If kawhi has accomplished one goal, it would be making himself untenable to the spurs, so that their trading him seems inevitable. then, too, making sure the whole league knows kawhi wants to go to LA will scare off a lot of potential dance partners, upping the chances LA will get him.

and the only cost to kawhi has been totally shredding his reputation by making him look sullen, petulant, badly injured, and a very risky bet for any team wanting to give him a long-term max contract. success!

this could get more interesting if there's a deal in principle and his medicals start getting shared

feel like the spurs might prefer kyrie as the lakers deal is really a rebuilding move

and the celtics as they are worried abt kyrie leaving next year anyway maybe wldnt even care about getting a commitment from kawhi

kyrie plus the SAC pick gets it done for me. can draft a future piece next year and continue being competitive this year.

i kinda dont see the celtics throwing in either the sac or mem pick w kyrie, unless maybe if they were confident kawhi is fully healthy and he agrees to an extension

another aspect to the whole Kawhi thing i just considered and correct me if i'm wrong on some points: that while the public didn't know it, it's likely that the team probably knew that Pop's wife was battling an illness that was likely going to take her life, and through all this he was coaching and handling the team, and Kawhi's absence and weirdness would be even worse in the context of all that, especially with Pop being a genuinely beloved guy and player's coach; Kawhi just acting in a way that was making Pop's professional life more difficult while his personal life was causing him ridiculous amounts of stress.

it would also explain a bit more a lot of the snappiness directed at Kawhi from certain guys, idk though, it's just speculation.

v v possible. altho nothing ive read indicates that kawhi had any beef with pop specifically, that most of his ire is with the org as a whole/med staff. but def fucked up.

the narrative from Extremely Hurt Spurs Fans is that kawhi's uncle is pulling the strings and influencing kawhi so they can all live it up back home in socal. i don't think that kawhi would be passing up all this money* unless he really didn't want to be here. he's losing at least ~$30M by not signing this supermax extension, and if he gets traded to [non-LA team x] and signs with some other teams, that's another tens of millions of dollars he's passing up (which i why i think celtics should seriously consider taking on kawhi and then if he wants to leave, get some sign and trade stuff coming back their way. if he doesn't, yay for them).
