Either way, nagl. I think he’ll never be the same.

Boston is allowed to trade for only one player (Kyrie Irving)
― ciderpress, Thursday, 28 June 2018 13:53 (seven years ago)
re: the injury, if you buy what kawhi's camp and doctors say, the spurs med staff misdiagnosed his injury as tendinopathy when it's actually ossification and therefore requires a totally different treatment, including more rest than what tony parker had (who DID have tendinopathy). so, if that's right, the spurs may have risked exacerbating his injury and isaiah thomasing him into getting re-injured before a contract year. if that's true, and various spurs reps were taking your injury news as basically made up or exaggerated or whatever, you might be kinda pissed and feel betrayed
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Thursday, 28 June 2018 14:18 (seven years ago)
+you could sign him as a free agent in one year

not necessarily. if LAL gets 2 max dudes this summer, they're capped out. if they can trade for him they can add 2 FAs plus him plus a bunch of minimum contracts.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Thursday, 28 June 2018 14:29 (seven years ago)
Sources on ESPN: Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George informs franchise that he is not opting into final year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent. https://t.co/skRquzhnjb— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 28, 2018

that makes a certain amount of sense but at the same time i feel like the Spurs are so good at handling things normally that there's something iffy about how Kawhi and co. handled this, like his insistence on going to L.A. specifically vs merely wanting off the Spurs makes me feel as though he was both checked out and he had eyes for L.A. long before all this. My thought is the team kind of knew or had hints of this in some way and their frustration started to boil over.

― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 15:32 (seven years ago)
definitely, especially since a lot of the rumors of his discontent were before the public comments. i don't take everything coming out of the kawhi camp at face value.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Thursday, 28 June 2018 16:04 (seven years ago)
The Spurs are fully engaged in trade talks with several teams on Kawhi Leonard, including the Lakers and Celtics, league sources tell ESPN. Boston has long had the assets that the Spurs most covet in a potential Leonard trade.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 28, 2018

Rumblings of a Godfather Lakers offer for San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard have rival teams wondering if anyone else can compete here. The latest summer of LeBron has officially begun...— Sam Amick (@sam_amick) June 28, 2018

lonzo seems like a great spur. his dad otoh...
and yeah lagoon otm, if anyone is capable of making the godfather offer it's boston. though not sure they should

wld be funny if they traded hayward tho for him lol

i cld be wrong but i dont think theyll deal horford or hayward cause that hurts their credibility with future big free agents, kyrie tho...
― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 16:50 (seven years ago)
just gonna lay it all on the table here i want them to trade kyrie for kawhi so the celtics can have a complete starting lineup of 6-8 guys
― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 16:51 (seven years ago)
i need to see it

its the culmination of the small ball era: mid ball
wing ball

kyrie or ingram + kuz?
― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 16:57 (seven years ago)
(celtics have much better draft picks to offer if it comes down to that)
This doesn't guarantee Kawhi Leonard is going to the Lakers this week -- since San Antonio could always trade him elsewhere and/or drag things out -- but league sources say of the Spurs: "They're ready" to move on from Kawhi— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 28, 2018

― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 17:26 (seven years ago)
If kawhi has accomplished one goal, it would be making himself untenable to the spurs, so that their trading him seems inevitable. then, too, making sure the whole league knows kawhi wants to go to LA will scare off a lot of potential dance partners, upping the chances LA will get him.
and the only cost to kawhi has been totally shredding his reputation by making him look sullen, petulant, badly injured, and a very risky bet for any team wanting to give him a long-term max contract. success!

feel like the spurs might prefer kyrie as the lakers deal is really a rebuilding move
― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 17:44 (seven years ago)
and the celtics as they are worried abt kyrie leaving next year anyway maybe wldnt even care about getting a commitment from kawhi
― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 17:45 (seven years ago)
kyrie plus the SAC pick gets it done for me. can draft a future piece next year and continue being competitive this year.
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Thursday, 28 June 2018 17:47 (seven years ago)
i kinda dont see the celtics throwing in either the sac or mem pick w kyrie, unless maybe if they were confident kawhi is fully healthy and he agrees to an extension
― sprout god (lag∞n), Thursday, 28 June 2018 17:49 (seven years ago)
prob not, but spurs won't make that deal straight up
― 21st savagery fox (m bison), Thursday, 28 June 2018 17:51 (seven years ago)
cld see kyrie + a celtics pick or a lesser young dude something like that

Yeah
Players have more freedom comparatively
But also two current factors we may not always have: a bunch of gms unafraid to let their nuts hang (ainge Morey presti etc); and the sheer gravity of lebron free agency
