Was wondering the same thing. Can someone with more NBA knowledge than me explain why these games are so lopsided regardless of who wins?

Don't know if I have more NBA knowledge than you but read somewhere that emphasis on 3's makes for more lopsided scorelines and found it pretty convincing.

If a team is hot from 3 point range and their opponent happens not to be, they're essentially getting 50% more value for a larger percentage of their shots and that spirals into blowouts pretty easily.

thats true but the average score should still be close so we're just rolling poorly

my response to Moodles would be that sometimes the GSW just don't feel like blowing you out by 40

def 3s are increasing variance, all 3 eastern conf games have been blowouts too, maybe some other style of play type things are having the same effect too idk

increased pace shd decrease variance for roughly even matched teams, but also if one team is just whipping butt all game then it gives them more opportunity to run up the score

it seems like coaching is becoming more important maybe the game to game tactical counters are a bigger deal than they used to be

yeah i think this has a lot to do with it. lebron modulates constantly too. he basically didn't try in game 1 and then really eased off the gas in game 2 for whatever reason after the first quarter.

this is just how the warriors lose in the playoffs. been this way for a few years now. last night didnt really have the feel of a 40 pt blowout but the scrubs were lights out too and just kept adding to it, think quinn cook was perfect from the field.
