I don’t really care at all about the 1-16 stuff aside from the occasional year when a conference final is the de facto finals but even that I don’t much mind like the year the shaqobe lakers were presumptive champs coming out of the west and got clowned by the Pistons was hilariously and would cause hot take Twitter to self combust if it happened now

And I’m with j0rd on the 3-4 year mini rivalries that happen in conferences, those are the best

I mean outside of giant geological scale rivalries like lakers Celtics, but you can count on a couple heated series in the first or second round in each conference every year. I guess it would develop with a 1-16 format too

the two best teams being in one conference isnt occasional, itd happen 50% of the time just randomly and has happened a lot more than that via the enduring dominance of the west

It only really bothers when 1 and 2 are in the same conference AND the gap between 2 and 3 is very large like this year but this year doesn’t bother me that much for some reason

it super bothers me lol, i dont care as much about the mediocre teams that miss the offs altogether tho i figure might as well have the best teams in there

also wld make jockeying for playoff seeding way more intense since there are more teams in play youd be much less likely to have a secure spot, thered be fewer meaningless games late season less resting guys and so forth generally itd ramp up the sweet competition we all desire

If kawhi is a broken player now, we can still take solace in the many years of excellence he provided before he suddenly turned into d-rose. Many more years than d-rose was intact. I'd prefer he came back whole, though.
