the blazers role players look way better than earlier in the year but lillard is basically playing like MVP steph right now

reminder that portland got nurkic and a #1 pick for mason plumlee

dame has been must see tv since the beginning of february
i def did not see a leap from borderline all-star to borderline mvp candidate coming from dame, absolutely figured he had pretty much plateaued as a c+ version of steph
― Clay, Tuesday, 13 March 2018 05:12 (eight years ago)
feel like hes done this before tho, having said that hes kinda been a borderline mvp candidate for the last two seasons, current heater aside his biggest recent improvement is prob cleaning up his D to averagish levels, proving once again that he and kyrie are the same player

he and kyrie are the same player
I see kyrie as more of a slasher and dame as more of a gunner.

The next night against Charlotte, DeRozan went 3-of-4 from deep. Two nights later in Philly, he drained 6-of-9 -- a performance so stunning, the shots flying off his fingertips so fast, you had to check to make sure it was actually DeMar DeRozan, king of the midrange.
"I wanted to jump out of my seat watching," says Chris Farr, DeRozan's longtime trainer, who has watched DeRozan launch thousands of 3-pointers in summer workouts. "He has worked so hard. I always say, he's not Beyonce. He didn't wake up looking like this."

a raps/rox finals is what america/canada needs now
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 13 March 2018 17:23 (eight years ago)
lmao they had an intervention to get demar to shoot 3s!
DeRozan, a proud native of Compton, California, grew up idolizing Kobe Bryant. The Lakers had retired Bryant's two jersey numbers the night before. DeRozan had surely watched. Ujiri told DeRozan he could be Toronto's Kobe -- a lifetime player who defines a franchise and, maybe, brings it championship glory. But to get there -- to push this live-wire Toronto team to its full potential -- DeRozan had to start shooting more 3-pointers.

Reading that article about the raptors, what jumped out at me is that the coaching staff doesn't penalize players for making offensive errors, so long as the errors were made within the scheme. Instead, risk taking and creativity are rewarded. When teams take a big leap forward, it always seems like one key is making the game more fun for the players by letting them play. That's what the game ought to be - playful. It always seems to make teams more cohesive and fluid.

they really are deeper than in the past. they will still need to knock down shots in the offs, they've never had an easy series victory. if cleveland falls to 4th then raps have a very tough path to the finals.

the nuggets lakers rivalry is very good for a couple of not very good teams. little skirmishes in each of their last 3 games.

love when young teams develop some shit between each other before they come to power and, when that comes to pass, each is consumed with blinding hatred

the softening of the wonderful Bulls/Pistons rivalry took hold too soon if you ask me, as soon as Jordan knocked off Isiah it was curtains.

hmmmm i guess maybe the only chance for wigs to really ~shine~ is for one of those nba superstars to, say, be injured and not playing for an extended period of time to give andrew a chance to be a real big boy basketball leader!
