The drawn-out trade finally became official last week, due to concerns about Thomas' season ending hip injury, which he makes no mention of in The Players’ Tribune. ESPN reported today that the Celtics were unsure of when Thomas actually tore the ligament in his hip, and that Ainge was prompted to trade him over the lingering ailment.

But Thomas, despite his emotional connection with Boston, is very confident about the upcoming season.

"I'mma just say this here, point-blank, to get it over with," Thomas wrote, "and then you can go ahead and post it on whatever bulletin boards you want to: You are not going to want to mess with the Cavs this year. This is going to be a great year to be a Cavs fan, a great year. And I'm excited."

The new Cavaliers guard highlighted playing with one of the league's premier superstars in LeBron James as one of the main reasons he's excited about Cleveland.

"You really going to throw three guys on me, when I'm sharing a court with the best basketball player on the planet? Nah, I don't think so," he wrote.

i like this move for the cavs but it doesnt move the needle that much, clarkson is a scorer being added to a team thats already great offensively, nance shd help on the defensive end some but hes not like thaat great, both of them are young and active which the cavs need def, but the cavs need another bigger move if they really want to turn this around, i mean this might actually just be another forward looking post bron move, tho talk of a DJ trade does suggest theyre looking to improve this year

if the cavs can swap love for dj straight up it wld make them better this year and leave an out to ditch dj and cut salary if bron leave, tho if youre going to go to rebuilding mode youd rather trade love for a pick, but this wld allow them to thread the needle of improving this year while not mortgaging their future, have no idea if the clips want love tho, maybe thats where the third team comes in

the moves kinda work long term for a post bron future they gave up a late first but got clarkson back which is fair, then george hill is overpaid but only one more year after this is guaranteed

Clips are done for the season, so is Love, and Love is an L.A. guy...i think he's a decent bit of bait for a straight up trade. If Love was healthy not sure the Cavs should or would do it but idk.

at this point it might be easier to list who the cavs didn't trade
