you don't think he might come back for the playoffs? he could rehab for another 2.5 months before they really start to need him

tho maybe they would want to play it safe, that would be understandable. otoh this seems like the rare year in the east where anyone can make the finals

i think its possible, but even then coming back from missing a whole season and being thrown into the playoffs is a pretty rough transition, how much wld he be able to contribute and wld it be worth it or desirable for the celtics to do it, considering that even if hes technically ready they still might hold him out id say if i had to bet that hes not coming back this year, but he def cld who knows

also i doubt making it to the finals and getting smushed is high on the celtics list of priorities

The only scenario that makes any sense to me at all for Hayward to come back during the playoffs would be inserting him briefly into a home game in the second quarter, for the morale boost and to energize the crowd. Regular minutes beyond 5, up to 8 tops, would be totally implausible, unless they've been keeping him back unnecessarily, which seems totally implausible to me, too.
