the lavar story is interesting, on one hand he’s clearly mentally ill and ESPN’s coverage of him is tabloid trash. otoh carlisle was saying things like ESPN owed it to the NBA, its “partner”, to avoid pushing these stories. so this van gundy comment is concerning given the context

I'd like to see Melo at least play in one of the better Lithuanian basketball leagues before I'd draft him

all the hs basketball sites have him listed as a 5 star prospect which doesnt guarantee getting drafted especially since hes only (the age of) a junior but it does give him a pretty good shot

only watched a couple minutes but there seems to be a lot of driving and missing layups?

kinda cruel to take a 16 y/o from a situation where he was free to play like a bigger chucker than anyone wld dare in a pickup game and make him go against adults who are good at basketball

somehow melo's form is worse than lonzos. in general just looks like your average 16 year old hot shot at the local open gym who thinks he's way better than he is and who no one wants to play with.

dont think lavar's doing this for the hoops tho, the end goal for this fam is to be famous for being famous a la the kardashians n them

melos shot is all over the place too the only consistent thing abt it is the very low release point

he always looks like a little kid heaving the ball

lavars methods are, unconventional

he managed to get all three of his kids to play at least D1 level basketball while being completely fundamentally unsound
