theyve got two allstars and and are stacked with guys who play great defense! i mean theyre def not actually the best team and are winning a lot of close games but that roster is well better than .500 on paper

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:44 (eight years ago)

the biggest surprise to me is how well theyre rebounding, theyre getting boards from every position, tho maybe it shdnt be considering how big they are on the wings

i guess? but not sure that couldve been predicted. Dont think anyone thought Jaylen and the rook would be THIS good already. And Kyrie playing defense wasnt really something anyone was banking on. And you lost Bradley/Crowder to of your best defenders. idk

Spottie, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:51 (eight years ago)

all the metrics disliked bradley and the eye test disliked crowder. losing those guys has not been nearly the issue some thought it would be.

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:56 (eight years ago)

def everyone is playing better than expected (except kyrie whos playing a lil worse) but still i wldve expected like 48 wins out of this group then then throw in a few more for the brad effect, which tbf is p far off their 80-2 pace which no one predicted, so not saying what theyre doing isnt coming out of the blue just their roster is p dece

worth noting this win streak is entirely predicated on defense, theyre 21st in offensive efficiency, which seems like something they shd be able to improve on but its tough when youre giving smart and rozier big minutes

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:57 (eight years ago)

imo bradley is a very cool player but crowders D was def slipping last year

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:58 (eight years ago)

(except kyrie whos playing a lil worse)

on one side of the ball, at least.

Spottie, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:59 (eight years ago)

Bradley is exactly who the pistons needed

Spottie, Monday, 20 November 2017 21:59 (eight years ago)

im not too surprised kyrie has picked up his defensive effort tbh clevelands entire team wasnt playing D, he had something to prove coming to boston, brad generally gets good effort from players, and hes demonstrated an ability to play some D before, def dont think hes any sort of stopper but hes out there trying so cant complain

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 22:02 (eight years ago)

he has good hands and can get steals. he'll never be very physical or good on pick and rolls but he can still contribute.

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 November 2017 22:25 (eight years ago)

It’s either like 30 points or 5 points

It's not that irregular. If I started him he gets 5 points. If I benched him he gets 30.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 20 November 2017 22:27 (eight years ago)

lol

Spottie, Monday, 20 November 2017 22:58 (eight years ago)

the regular season rewards cohesion and playing hard and all the stuff the celtics excelled at before kyrie... add a superstar scorer to that mix & them having the best record in the east isn't a shock. they'll fall back a bit obv.

the question is just whether they're more like those hawks teams that got steamrolled by lebron in the playoffs nonetheless. the cavs themselves are a huge question mark so who knows, it will be an interesting thing to track over the course of the season.

J0rdan S., Monday, 20 November 2017 23:48 (eight years ago)

yeah kinda think the east is anyones to take, just a big celtics/cavs/wizards/raptors/bucks pack

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 23:51 (eight years ago)

the prospect of hayward returning is a huge wildcard, celtics are saying hes out for the season but based on the injury it seems like theres actually a dece chance he cld be back, tho obvs if you miss almost the whole year its pretty hard to regain yr form right away

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 23:52 (eight years ago)

cavs trade also a wild card

lag∞n, Monday, 20 November 2017 23:53 (eight years ago)

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 02:09 (eight years ago)

From all indications so far, the blazers will be playing a hell of a lot of close games this season and winning about half of them, give or take.

9 Ls in a row for Clips

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:05 (eight years ago)

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:13 (eight years ago)

perhaps cp3 really is that good

k3vin k., Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:14 (eight years ago)

blake is shooting like 42% on the season now. maybe time to stop shooting 6 threes per game.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:16 (eight years ago)

celts gonna lose to the... mavs?

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:43 (eight years ago)

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:54 (eight years ago)

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 04:02 (eight years ago)

wonder if ballmer will pull the trigger on doc

Clay, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 04:14 (eight years ago)

the boston celtics have won 16 games in a row

ciderpress, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 04:20 (eight years ago)

thunder 7-9

Net Rating by quarter (before tonight):

1st: +20.5
2nd: +3.7
3rd: -1.9
4th: -1.7

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 04:41 (eight years ago)

people didn't talk enough about the clippers just giving blake $173 with no hesitation

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:14 (eight years ago)

some projections/people thought they'd be the top 5 in the west... i didn't think they'd be that good but i thought they were a clear playoff team. without gallo tho it's not clear how they score any points. their best off the dribble creator right now is... austin rivers

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:17 (eight years ago)

the theodosic injury didnt help either. and pat Bev has been banged up per usual.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:27 (eight years ago)

not sure the clippers had any other choice but to sign Blake and keep him happy. Ballmer wants to be competitive

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:28 (eight years ago)

yeah i don't feel like it was really a basketball decision. but i did briefly have hopes that the clippers would become a flexible/tricky team that had a few ways to beat you.

i wonder if it's as simple as blake not being a guy who can really carry a team at this point

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:31 (eight years ago)

they were def in a weird place after cp3 bolted but i dunno. that contract has the chance to cripple their team. what's he gonna be like in year 3 of that deal?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 November 2017 05:47 (eight years ago)

they shd prob just blow it up

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 14:30 (eight years ago)

they were playing p well before the gallo/milos injuries, right? is it not that straightforward? at any rate, they would struggle to get back into the playoff hunt and should totally bottom out this year.

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 14:40 (eight years ago)

also by year 3 their powder is mostly dry except they have almost $57 mil going to blake and gallo, oops

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 14:44 (eight years ago)

year 3 = 2020, that is

Men's Scarehouse - "You're gonna like the way you're shook." (m bison), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 14:45 (eight years ago)

i think the bucks need to fire kidd. that offense is not working.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:41 (eight years ago)

yeah hes bad

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:43 (eight years ago)

brogdon is playing horribly. bledsoe and giannis and middleton just take turns ISOing. badddddddd

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:44 (eight years ago)

he always looks confused about whats going on in the basketball game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:45 (eight years ago)

think that's just his resting face tho haha

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:47 (eight years ago)

they play this super swarmy trappy defense which is exploitable by ball reversal aka the thing all modern offenses are designed to do too which is like whats the point of having all those long arms they shd just switch and stay in front of their mans contest and so forth, with the roster they have now they cld just play simple solid basketball on both sides and it wld work

lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:49 (eight years ago)

yeah they have good solid individual defenders and good shooters throughout their lineup.

Spottie, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 16:53 (eight years ago)
