2017 NBA OFFSEASON

celtics will be good and definitely better than last year but i don't think they will be as good as those other teams in the tier below the warriors

cleveland better pray they get last years isaiah lol

such a big roster turnover might slow the Celtics down in first 20 games or so as they get acquainted. after that, they should have most of the kinks worked out and we'll understand them better.

it was just preseason D but watching kyrie getting good catch and shoot 3 looks in an actual offense the other night was prettty sweet

hayward likewise came from a fairly dysfunctional offense, celtics gonna put up some points this year

The "starters" on their preseason roster looks like group of guys that would normally be struggling to make a roster.

if embiid stays healthy and has a big year, it's going to make steph's old contract look like a bad contract

they were in a tight spot its either sign him or let him walk, youd obvs like to be able to get a better deal but i they cldnt

in re: embiid extension. that is just as much a product of 'the process' as all those high draft picks were. and it will only get more obvious as more young sixers move beyond their rookie contracts. you have to figure some of those talented young guys will need to be traded for two or three rotation players with well-under-max contracts, just to keep the luxury tax from exploding in the sixer management's face.

yeah 5/48 for embiid would be a great deal!

embiid would have been an RFA so he was looking at the prospect of playing this year and next on essentially 1 year deals. why wouldn't the sixers use that leverage to shave a good bit of money off of that extension? even 5/100 would have made me nervous for the sixers but they agreed to pay $30 million per year over 5 years to a guy who has played 31 games in three years??? how is this not one of the most insane things a team has ever done

you only give a rookie a max extension if you think he's going to be playing for you for 10 years. you're basically buying his loyalty for when he has to get his *next contract*. do the sixers seriously think embiid is going to be playing 6 years from now?

the only explanations i cn think of is team embiid were playing hardball and convinced the sixers he wld take the one year tender and walk if they didnt max him out, or they just really wanted to have a great relationship with him cause they think hes the future of the franchise

has their ever been a player this good this injured this young, i think walton had a couple near complete seasons under his belt, oden had potential but wasnt really that good when he played

grant hill had at least several good years in detroit before the orlando tragic days

walton's numbers were pretty embiid-esque, i didnt know they were this bad myself until i checked it out just now

(note that he was mvp in 78 playing 58 games and 33mpg which is just absolutely unthinkable now)

if the sixers were convinced that embiid would play two more years w/o a long term contract they suck at their jobs

the thing is that they could have offered him the max on the final day they could possibly sign him 2 years from now. what's the rush?

apparently the contract is "very complex" so i guess there's some way for them to get out of the money if he can't play

i dont think theres too much they can actually do on that front unless they got team options on the last two years or something, like bonuses can only be a fraction of the whole contract

is he overweight? if anything he could cut back on the shoulders and chest muscle bulk

yeah he seems top heavy to me, which is not good if u have foot problems

sixers training staff is kinda sus simmons put on a ton of upper body bulk right after they got him too then broke his foot
