wow considering the pick and how hard it is when teams know a player wants out, I love this trade for the Cavs

this season is going to be really interesting viewing. we'll finally settle the debates by seeing prime kyrie run his own team

lot of ppl on the twitter seem to think the celtics way overpaid but kyrie having two years left on his deal makes it pretty different than past disgruntled stars wanting out situations, also his age

the Cavs have a shitload of centers

ante zizic is a guy the celtics picked last year late in the first round who a lot of ppl thought wld have been a top ten pick this year, he also looked insanely awful in summer league, id be surprised if hes ever a difference maker in the nba

yeah zizic is at best "a nice player" for 25 mins/game, i'm not even sure why the cavs demanded his inclusion

if not for the pick and the eternal what-if surrounding such a high draft spot, i wouldn't particularly complain about the deal at all, much as i grew to love IT4 in a v emotional/not always rational way - like as a "favorite player for watching" type thing

Yer right Kev I basically blacked out when I saw the news because I loved that little magical elf with all my heart and think kyrie is an incredible scorer and utter weirdo

But I guess they're pretty comparable in that they can both score like crazy and are at best medium bad defenders. As noted the real numbers that work for the cs are kyries age and comparative size- I am legit terrified that if IT loses even a half step he's in serious trouble

I am supremely unexcited to root for a flat earther tho

guess well see if kyrie is ready to do stuff besides score

if he re-signs it was more than a fair trade.... assuming he's actually good of course

been thinking about it and i think ainge is going to trade horford before the season

theyre so young now and hes old and doesnt really fit what theyre trying to do but still has a lot of value

that seems insane. do they even have a frontcourt without him

i think that would make them pretty toxic for other FAs.

i don't see what they could be trying to do in which horford doesn't fit, he's a very all-around player

in answer to yr rebuttals

1 they wld have to trade him for a front court player, or players as part of a bigger trade

2 this is a reasonable point re free agents

3 al is really good but he doesnt rebound or really protect the rim which is what they need also hes older than everyone else and his foot speed is deteriorating which cld make him a defensive liability before his contract is over, hes already hopeless defending power forwards

addendum: hayward is 27 so he might not be that psyched abt a total youth movement right when they signed him, maybe theyll go the other direction and move some of their youth to get another in his prime player idk its just a tough time to do so cause of mostly the warriors and a lil but the cavs, i mean theyll prob stand pat since trades are hard to do but al kinda feels out of step w the rest of the team to me

ainge said something in his press conference for the kyrie trade that made me think he was looking to make another move someone asked him how he felt about the state of the team and he said lets wait til the end of the summer to have that discussion, obvs he cld just be talking abt smaller complimentary moves or just saying that as a matter of course but if he were to make a big move al is the only big contract he has left to trade
