warriors signing nick young puts them past the 'what could possibly go wrong' line which means of course everything will go wrong next season imo

The thing w gay is... he tore his Achilles and no ones seen him play since so he may actually be worse than slo mo

If the dubs retain McGee as well then the karma ball gods may indeed frown upon us

down that brown path (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2017 00:47 (eight years ago)

rudy gay is, for me, basically an avatar of yesterday's nba

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 00:51 (eight years ago)

huh didnt realize that not up on rudy gay news xp

Or, if the documentary rookie of the year teaches us anything, it's that freak injuries often lead to extraordinary athletic improvement

nice cage (m bison), Friday, 7 July 2017 01:04 (eight years ago)

i argued hard on this board for KD as the best all around player in that series and MVP, nonetheless i think the absolute peak performance lebron can or chooses to access 3-5 times per year is still the best in the NBA

― J0rdan S., Thursday, July 6, 2017 7:14 PM (three minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

i mean this doesn't really matter tho. bron played about as well as he could have in the finals and KD outplayed him.

turnovers and defense matter!!

― k3vin k., Thursday, July 6, 2017 7:20 PM (one hour ago) Bookmark

well i think lebron was better than KD in the final two games of the series. in game 5 he put up 41/13/8 with two steals, a block and two TO. in that game KD put up 39/6/5 with 4 turnovers. in game 4 bron put up 31/10/11 with two turnovers. KD put up 35/4/4 with 1 turnover. even in game 3 you could argue bron was better. as far as turnovers go, bron had 8 turnovers to KD's 0 on in the first game. after that bron had 13 and KD had 11.

i would have voted for KD as MVP and i do think he was the best player in the series. but i think it's much closer than you're making it sound. lebron could not match him in the first two games, and i think watching them it felt as if he had chosen not to.

the kelly o contract seems fairly reasonable for the heat. it's definitely a good fit on the court.

i think the heat got unlucky when cp3 left the clippers so early, which meant the clippers were gonna give blake the 5 year crazy max. maxing out w/ kelly o, waiters & james johnson is def... interesting but i don't think they had many options. and it is a playoff team that could make the second round depending on the matchup.

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 01:16 (eight years ago)

idk that collection of contracts could go blazers pretty quickly.

read an article the other day about their fading ability to attract major free agency and i don't think it mentioned that the window where they could do that coincided with wade being there a lot more than it did with riley or spo.

me 2

anyway NYK offer sheet to Hardaway Jr 4/71

can't imagine atl matches

down that brown path (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2017 03:16 (eight years ago)

btw a friend of mine told me the other day that portland will be fine bc "we have three of the top 10 players in the league if nurkic is healthy!" and like this is an article of faith among the blind around here

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:18 (eight years ago)

idk that collection of contracts could go blazers pretty quickly.

the blazers' real problem is that they're in the west instead of the east

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 03:18 (eight years ago)

idk spending a quarter of a billio dollars on turner, leonard, crabbe, harkless and ezili over a couple of days is kind of a problem if you're on the damn moon much less this side of the mississippi

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:20 (eight years ago)

it's not ideal but the cap space has to go somewhere, and there will always be middle class teams in the nba. the problem is that middle class in the nba is fighting for the 7th/8th seed in the west, whereas in the east it might be a comfortable playoff birth, which a lot of teams would take!

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 03:22 (eight years ago)

cap space is one thing but once they get into that repeater tax the panic can set in for management

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:25 (eight years ago)

the blazers problem is that in a salary cap league you have to be able to change your team without wrecking it. when you're loaded up with unappealing players and/or unappealing contracts and all ppl talk about is how you might have to trade your 2nd-best player to change your team, that's a problem. if the heat have a real shot at a star in the near future but can't get anyone interested in taking on waiters/johnson/olynyk they're going to have the same problem.

call all destroyer, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:26 (eight years ago)

another problem is that being stuck in that 7th-8th spot in the west year after year is just abt the worst place you can be in the league. no chance of winning more than one or two playoff games per annum coupled with no real chance of improving through the draft (unless you're san antonio). throw in half the team being toxic assets and being in tax territory keeping FA search as a pipe dream and idk it's a garbage position. mortgaged half a decade on evan turner and allen crabbe!

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:30 (eight years ago)

the blazers had a really tough path to navigate when they developed non-complimentary backcourt talent and no frontcourt talent of note. a lot of people miscalculated the cap situation going into last summer but olshey (who i like) might have been the worst offender.

call all destroyer, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:35 (eight years ago)

it would have been interesting to see someone like morey run the blazers 2 years ago because in retrospect they should have made a very weird/aggressive/unexpected move

call all destroyer, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:38 (eight years ago)

if nurkic stays healthy they could be better than a 7/8 seed this year. everyone on the team should be better minus turner

down that brown path (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2017 03:40 (eight years ago)

i think mostly everything they did was defensible aside from turner, which was truly inexplicable. crabbe's contract is insane but he at least presents an identifiable and valuable skill, they just got caught in the wrong year with him.

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 03:43 (eight years ago)

they had to match brooklyn on turner tbf

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 03:57 (eight years ago)

iirc the turner thing was mostly that mgmt was shocked when parsons spurned them and they panic-spent on the next 3 on their big board

the heat got caught in the same pickle with tyler johnson, who i really like. i understand why teams didn't want to lose young players they liked bcuz of some weird cap year. but maybe it will come back to fuck them.

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 04:01 (eight years ago)

Tyler Johnson is actually good tho

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 7 July 2017 04:02 (eight years ago)

crabbe's not bad he's just overpaid due to a freak one-year circumstance

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 04:14 (eight years ago)

its really sad about bosh cos this team w him would be hella fun

down that brown path (Spottie), Friday, 7 July 2017 04:19 (eight years ago)

71/4 is a ridic amt of money for hardaway jr and is borderline insane in this market

Clay, Friday, 7 July 2017 04:24 (eight years ago)

DOLAN

nice cage (m bison), Friday, 7 July 2017 04:30 (eight years ago)

i like hardaway as a bench guy but there was no way he was getting paid an acceptable salary this summer

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 04:33 (eight years ago)

the nets mission to fuck over all other teams via RFAs is an underrated story of this and last offseason

ciderpress, Friday, 7 July 2017 04:43 (eight years ago)

nets also have a great op to fuck around and develop young players. no one will blame marks even if they totally suck for another three years

micah, Friday, 7 July 2017 04:56 (eight years ago)

oops he did it again

It's not an exaggeration to say Jayson Tatum is already the best player of all time. #Celtics. pic.twitter.com/srCyjlExh2

ciderpress, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:22 (eight years ago)

wait hes the worse twin dam

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:33 (eight years ago)

i thought he was the better one until last season

ciderpress, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:38 (eight years ago)

Terrible trade, avery is so good

nice cage (m bison), Friday, 7 July 2017 14:49 (eight years ago)

yeah not much of a market for one year of him tho i guess + they needed to clear cap for gordo

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:53 (eight years ago)

they were going to have to move a guard eventually but the cap reduction forced them to do it now. getting a forward made the most sense, that said i'm not a big fan of either morris.

call all destroyer, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:56 (eight years ago)

i like the other morris he plays bigger, c's r still hopeless rebounding wise

lag∞n, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:58 (eight years ago)

i think i might've tried to trade crowder

J0rdan S., Friday, 7 July 2017 14:58 (eight years ago)

avery's a good player but his lack of size is a problem
