"New York offered Carmelo and Sasha Vujacic to the Clippers in exchange for Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce and Austin Rivers, a deal to which Rivers ultimately said no. That event led Paul to feel that keeping his son on the roster was more important to Doc than improving the team."

OMG

WOOOOOOOOOW DOC IS AN IDIOT (if true)

down that brown path (Spottie), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 19:35 (nine years ago)

paul leaving some breadcrumbs on his way out the door lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 19:37 (nine years ago)

some of the circumstances are just kinda random like bron wanting to be in cleve, steph signing a contract right in the middle of an injury scare then turning into an mvp and so forth

yeah the giant cap jump is a big part of it too, just a lot of different things happening around the same time. and it can take up to 4 years for the league to reset each time someone breaks it, which is a long time.

ciderpress, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 19:39 (nine years ago)

hahahah, im just boggling at doc right now. bc if you want to coach while your son is in the league, probably a good idea to avoid coaching him due to conflict of interests

doc: fuck that, im trading for him

ok then just be careful bc there may come a time where the interests of your family and your profession will be at odds--

doc: fuck that, i will not trade my son for melo

nice cage (m bison), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 19:56 (nine years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 20:00 (nine years ago)

i seriously groaned aloud reading it

brimstead, Thursday, 29 June 2017 01:13 (nine years ago)

The market has changed huh:

The Houston Rockets would have had to trade Ryan Anderson if they would have signed Chris Paul outright in free agency instead of trading for him.

The market for Anderson, who has three years and $60 million remaining on his deal was incredibly soft.

At least two teams were demanding two first round picks from the Rockets in exchange for taking on Anderson and his contract.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 29 June 2017 01:34 (nine years ago)

yeah, teams that want to contend have so little margin of error that they're (correctly) scared of taking on a guy that can be played out of key playoff matchups. i'm already tired of ppl saying "two-way players" but it's a real thing if you want to play against golden state.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 29 June 2017 01:50 (nine years ago)

its good to be able to do all the basketball things (almost no one can)

lag∞n, Thursday, 29 June 2017 02:40 (nine years ago)

prob has something to do with why all players are 6-8 now

:/

Sources: Warriors' luxury tax moving forward is concern for Golden State and owner Joe Lacob in re-signing Andre Iguodala.

wow that would be super lame if iggy got squeezed out because of that

k3vin k., Thursday, 29 June 2017 20:22 (nine years ago)

I think they're tinkering over a 3rd year on the contact is my predic. They want flexibility in two years when klay is up

down that brown path (Spottie), Thursday, 29 June 2017 20:25 (nine years ago)

i think some of the more plugged-in media suggested that luxury tax may be a problem for them sooner than ppl thought. not getting that new arena money for a couple years.

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 01:06 (nine years ago)

hi knicks org huge fan of the city u do business in, my name is jill faxon and i am a beautiful lady and also a basketball mastermind with 11 championship rings if i could have your attention for a few minutes

nice cage (m bison), Friday, 30 June 2017 03:25 (nine years ago)

I propose we rule the knicks as a triumvirate

Clay, Friday, 30 June 2017 04:00 (nine years ago)

its settled then

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 04:36 (nine years ago)

nice cage (m bison), Friday, 30 June 2017 04:49 (nine years ago)

have we ever had a team with two of the top five assist leaders from the season before?

― down that brown path (Spottie), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 21:24 (two days ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

In 1981/82 Magic Johnson and Norm Nixon were top five assist leaders on the same team (though only 23 teams compared with 30 now). This has twigged my interest - I'll look to see if there are more recent occurrences later.

cronengmarbergman, Friday, 30 June 2017 13:03 (nine years ago)

Steph and Dray have been top 10 but not 5 I think

ciderpress, Friday, 30 June 2017 13:12 (nine years ago)

Likewise LeBron and Wade were top 10 in 2009/10 before the Heatles formed.

cronengmarbergman, Friday, 30 June 2017 13:38 (nine years ago)

Wiggins being so bad surprised me ^. Sure, I don't watch a lot of Wolves games, but with Thibs and his athleticism I would have thought he would have absolutely no excuse for not being at least mediocre.

cronengmarbergman, Friday, 30 June 2017 15:49 (nine years ago)

one wld think yes

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 15:50 (nine years ago)

Hopefully Butler taking some offensive load will let KAT and Wiggins improve on defence, really want to see this Wolves team do well.

cronengmarbergman, Friday, 30 June 2017 16:00 (nine years ago)

crazy that bringing on the defensive genius tom thibodeau actually hurt both wiggins and kats numbers and their numbers were already very bad, not a great sign for this regime

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 16:10 (nine years ago)

if kat ends up just being a one way player that wld be very sad

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 16:10 (nine years ago)

bill turned back the clock for this one lol good plan imo https://theringer.com/2017-nba-free-agency-11-step-guide-to-fixing-los-angeles-clippers-steve-ballmer-lebron-james-5be49018c062

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 16:52 (nine years ago)

in short: rebuilding mode + move to seattle

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 16:57 (nine years ago)

resign and renounce the sad legacy of the clippers forever, start anew as the "very sonics"

lag∞n, Friday, 30 June 2017 17:00 (nine years ago)

i dont really agree with the lebron stuff, by 2019 him and his friends are going to be too old to keep up in the western conference imo

clippers should definitely become the sonics though

ciderpress, Friday, 30 June 2017 17:14 (nine years ago)

ya agree
