The expectation in Warriors circles, sources say, is that Durant won't formally come to terms on his new deal until "later in the month."

apparently he just extended phils contract by $24m a few months ago my lord

$24m to buy out phil vs. $54m to buy out melo, that's what you call a good business decision.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 12:58 (nine years ago)

it was a silly decision to extend phil's contract, but it was an even sillier decision by phil to antagonize the team's two biggest stars and best players in the press for months.

unless he wanted to be fired

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:46 (nine years ago)

if the clippers are getting broken up where does blake end up

ciderpress, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:48 (nine years ago)

houston?

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:50 (nine years ago)

they're already getting chris paul in this scenario they dont have cap for 2 guys

ciderpress, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:52 (nine years ago)

i wish cp was headed to the spurs

marcos, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:53 (nine years ago)

paul to spurs blake to houston seems like more of a —cultural fit—

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:53 (nine years ago)

denver wants blake apparently

ciderpress, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:55 (nine years ago)

denvers trippin

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:55 (nine years ago)

its very important that the good players never leave the western conference imo

ciderpress, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 13:55 (nine years ago)

CP3 to Houston seems like it would sap a lot of what worked about last year's team, but I guess if you're trying to compete with the Dubs, you gotta just stack up all-stars

black covfefe in bed (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 14:03 (nine years ago)

Knicks owner James Dolan is targeting Toronto's Masai Ujiri to replace Phil Jackson as N.Y.'s President, league sources tell @TheVertical.

good luck jimmy

new york knicks announce hire of new gm david kahn

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 14:56 (nine years ago)

they should hire griffin and build the banana boat

ciderpress, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:03 (nine years ago)

cp3 to the rockets is the only team that could conceivably challenge the warriors imo

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:04 (nine years ago)

(in the west)

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:05 (nine years ago)

interesting discussion on the last lowe pod about how teams feel it's easier to defend the rockets in the playoffs because you know they're only taking shots from behind the three or at the rim, and that cp3 could conceivably diversify their offense specifically in the playoffs

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:07 (nine years ago)

also everyone thinks the heat are the team for blake if he doesn't resign from what i understand

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:07 (nine years ago)

blake only lives in shorts year round locales

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:13 (nine years ago)

cp3 traded to the rockets

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:41 (nine years ago)

i keep re-reading the tweet bcuz it seems fake...

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:42 (nine years ago)

wow

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:44 (nine years ago)

cant call the rockets boring

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:45 (nine years ago)

cp3 kept his max salary and moved to a contender

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:46 (nine years ago)

wasnt harden ballin as a PG though ?

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:46 (nine years ago)

no harm in having two elite ball handlers, paul can play off the ball some and get lots of rest during the regular season, plus the enormity of his responsibilities seemed to catch up w harden in the playoffs, this makes the rockets less predictable/defendable

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:50 (nine years ago)

yeah it's a great spot to be in no doubt but just seeing the guy come off his best season being the primary and then bringing in an elite point is strange imo

lolclippers though

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:53 (nine years ago)

Prediction: there will be chemistry issues

nice cage (m bison), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:53 (nine years ago)

clippers got nothing back. wow.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:53 (nine years ago)

I wouldn't call 3 rotation players and a first round pick nothing, and considering they were days away from getting nothing, I'd say it's a decent haul

Clippers are officially in rebuild mode tho. Will be interesting to see how quickly they can get back to the playoffs.

idk cp3 is a total bitch but hell get u looks

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:55 (nine years ago)

oh i guess he told them he was leaving? this is bizarre. anyone want to take a stab at how he had already decided to sign in houston without, like, taking a meeting?

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:56 (nine years ago)

"Clippers are officially in rebuild mode tho. Will be interesting to see how quickly they can get back to the playoffs"

loool a mediocre playoff team again , one can only dream !

(•̪●) (carne asada), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:57 (nine years ago)

Haha Adam silver shd kick it old school and void this CP3 deal

Xp

nice cage (m bison), Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:58 (nine years ago)

players are allowed to talk to each other, players are allowed to talk to their management, if u want a legal explanation

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:58 (nine years ago)

this has been a good morning

nomar, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 15:58 (nine years ago)

Phil Jackson either got some really bad weed this past year or he was trying to torpedo his own career. love it.

of course, this is still a truly impressive example of backchanneling. i am supportive in this instance mostly b/c doc got owned.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:00 (nine years ago)

if he decided on the rockets w/o ever meeting it's clear he was just going w/ whatever team he thought gave him the best chance of beating the warriors

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:00 (nine years ago)

my take on phils actions is he wasnt trying to sabotage his career he just didnt care, what he did care about were his grudges, hes an old crank basically

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:01 (nine years ago)

this isn't a terrible haul for the rockets. i think dekker could become a really nice complimentary player, and lou will and pat bev should both hold their trade value thru next deadline

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:02 (nine years ago)

i feel like Paul is going to put up some ridiculous numbers next season and that they'll run the Warriors completely off the floor at least twice. not sure about the playoffs though.

nomar, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:05 (nine years ago)

not the most outlandish predictions there i realize...

nomar, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:07 (nine years ago)

Paul had a strong desire to play with Rockets All-Star guard James Harden, which led to the Clippers working out a trade with Houston, league sources said. Los Angeles was able to secure several tradable assets and a draft pick in the deal. The Clippers risked losing Paul for nothing in free agency.

Paul and Harden discussed the possibility of a partnership at length, believing they can find a way to thrive together, league sources said.

from woj story

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:09 (nine years ago)

welp

yeah also he cldve talked to them, after trade negotiations begin youre allowed to, this def happened through an intermediary at least since paul had to agree to accept the his contract option

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:10 (nine years ago)

its def his best shot at a ring w/o taking a paycut

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 June 2017 16:11 (nine years ago)

I like this deal for the Rockets, but I don't think this makes them THAT much better.
