All-Defense Team, other players with votes: Damian Lillard 1

A is for (Aimless), Monday, 26 June 2017 17:25 (nine years ago)

ha, gotta be a portland beat writer, yeah?

nice cage (m bison), Monday, 26 June 2017 17:27 (nine years ago)

lol Lillard.

I'd give Covington a spot over Giannis.

down that brown path (Spottie), Monday, 26 June 2017 17:28 (nine years ago)

millsap's a really good defender, bise. some of the best hands for a pf in the league. always swiping the ball away. good shot blocker and plays the perimeter well too.

Heez, Monday, 26 June 2017 17:29 (nine years ago)

ok im sold, lets do it

nice cage (m bison), Monday, 26 June 2017 17:29 (nine years ago)

it'd be a great get by the spurs if they can pull it off. hawks might be looking for someone a little younger tho

Heez, Monday, 26 June 2017 17:31 (nine years ago)

millsap not on that list seems bad. they should probs have 3 all nba defensive teams

down that brown path (Spottie), Monday, 26 June 2017 17:31 (nine years ago)

millsap is the definition of a spurs player.

down that brown path (Spottie), Monday, 26 June 2017 17:31 (nine years ago)

who's starting at the 5 for yall next year?

Heez, Monday, 26 June 2017 17:31 (nine years ago)

Great question. I'll let you know once we have one under contract.

nice cage (m bison), Monday, 26 June 2017 18:22 (nine years ago)

(gasol and dedmon were our dudes this year, both are FAs)

nice cage (m bison), Monday, 26 June 2017 18:23 (nine years ago)

excited to announce i will be starting for the spurs at the 5 next year

ciderpress, Monday, 26 June 2017 18:46 (nine years ago)

imo george hill would be best suited to the nuggets but at 31 hes too old and injury prone for the length of contract he'll no doubt be looking for.

i dont like rubio for the nuggs bc jokic deserves actual shooters to pass to

micah, Monday, 26 June 2017 18:53 (nine years ago)

apparently the knicks are interested in rubio which is weird bc i thought the triangle de-emphasized PG handling and passing and turned them into a spot-up shooter a lot of the time

ciderpress, Monday, 26 June 2017 18:57 (nine years ago)

on the other hand its the knicks

lag∞n, Monday, 26 June 2017 19:46 (nine years ago)

oh right

IT got a vote too and he's even worse if you can believe it

ciderpress, Monday, 26 June 2017 20:05 (nine years ago)

hard to argue with that first team. giannis maybe not an all-nba defender yet tho

k3vin k., Monday, 26 June 2017 20:16 (nine years ago)

Think Tony Allen is a living on his rep at this point idk

down that brown path (Spottie), Monday, 26 June 2017 21:20 (nine years ago)

his rep around the league apparently is still really good. idk

k3vin k., Monday, 26 June 2017 21:26 (nine years ago)

yeah, after looking at his DRtg stats, that checks out. still, a 2nd team all defense is about as close to a lifetime achievement award as he's gonna get.

nice cage (m bison), Monday, 26 June 2017 21:27 (nine years ago)

prolly so.

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 00:17 (nine years ago)

hes a throwback u dont really see players like that anymore who just straight up dont give a shit about anything except scoring

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 00:24 (nine years ago)

I thought he was meant to be a good defender

down that brown path (Spottie), Tuesday, 27 June 2017 00:24 (nine years ago)

guess he forgot to do that

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 00:25 (nine years ago)

he was supposed to be good at everything except maybe scoring and then he was only good at scoring

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 00:27 (nine years ago)

maybe someone was holding the scouting report upside down

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 00:28 (nine years ago)

nobody who writes/talks about the nba who i trust seems to wonder about either of these things so i think i may just be wrong here in questioning this but i don't understand a. why wiggins is considered a foundational cornerstone piece or. b why exactly he's obviously more desirable than zach lavine, who people seem to think isn't very good?

lavine is a better three point shooter (and two point shooter!), an elite athlete and apparently no worse at defense? and now the wolves are trying to trade ricky rubio bcuz they don't have enough shooting. i'm all in on team "you need as many wings as possible" right now so maybe it's simply that but i remain confused exactly as to why wiggins is currently seen as anything more than a younger rudy gay

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 June 2017 01:40 (nine years ago)

i guess if they think his defensive problems are just about effort then that can flip overnight in theory

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 June 2017 01:41 (nine years ago)

it's a great point. part of it is almost certainly just pedigree.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 02:01 (nine years ago)

lavine has more of an injury history but let's be real everyone is an injury optimist when it comes to young wings.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 02:02 (nine years ago)

i turned this awards thing on and saw drake in a tuxedo and i guess he's hosting? and i turned it off.

Clay, Tuesday, 27 June 2017 02:09 (nine years ago)

Producer in production trailer: "Camera 4! Gimme a good close up on the crying kid. Cut to 4 in 3...2...1. Now hold it. Camera 2, can you get a good angle on Monty? No. Camera 3? Good. Hold that. Cut to 3 in 3...2...1. You, 4, hold that shot. We''ll come back to 4 in 3...2...1. Fuck it, the kid's mom is screwing up the shot. Back to 3. Now!"
