that is really the best ny fans have two teams and nowhere to go
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:45 (nine years ago)
realistically stern shd force dolan to sell hes almost as bad a person as sterling
fanbases should be able to vote out incompetent ownership

fair
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:47 (nine years ago)
if phil could get the type of return chad ford is proposing, then they could save face, but there's no chance phil is enough of a negotiator to swing a deal that works in the knicks' favor. this is the man who traded for derrick rose and signed joakim noah to a four year deal.
― black covfefe in bed (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:47 (nine years ago)
its funny cause drafting zinger was by far his best move
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:49 (nine years ago)
omg that noah deal...
― down that brown path (Spottie), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:50 (nine years ago)
having crap ownership is the worst thing for fandom. nothing you can do and you're locked in for a long time! If Cohan still owned the dubs we'd still be winning 35 games a year, guaranteed. the day he sold was a top 25 day in my life tbh.
― down that brown path (Spottie), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:51 (nine years ago)
yup
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:51 (nine years ago)
if lebron wasn't from here the cavs would be in the same boat as the browns

it's true, he took heavy criticism for it too. i distinctly remember one of my coworkers the summer he was drafting shouting "HE'S GONNA GET DUNKED ON AND FAIL OUTTA THE NBA"
― black covfefe in bed (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 17:55 (nine years ago)
would throw you a vote xp

Knicks have asked for Devin Booker and the #4 pick from Phoenix for Kristaps Porzingis - Ha Ha Ha. He is good but trust me not that good— John Gambadoro (@Gambo987) June 20, 2017
― down that brown path (Spottie), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:03 (nine years ago)
zinger-booker straight up is interesting but yeah
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:04 (nine years ago)
would trust the career arch of booker more than zinger but zingers ceiling could be higher
― down that brown path (Spottie), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:09 (nine years ago)
having a very public bidding war for yr best player when youre not going to actually trade him cause youre asking too much seems not that smart
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:16 (nine years ago)
the knicks haven't had a team since 2000

fire phil jackson, preferably into the sun
― black covfefe in bed (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:50 (nine years ago)
phil jackson is such a fraud imo
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:51 (nine years ago)
a lot of coaches would have won championships with jordan/pippen or kobe/shaq
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 18:52 (nine years ago)
even bad ones
i would trade a lot to get porzingis including devin booker & the #4 pick
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 June 2017 19:03 (nine years ago)
i would offer like booker and bender or something tho since the suns would need to offload their young bigs anyway
lakers 100% gonna panic trade for PG http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19689275/indiana-pacers-los-angeles-lakers-talking-trade-paul-george

actually i think jackson was good for both teams but i think it's pretty clear that his worst quality is handling players, either clashing personalities or just managing drama in a way that makes it disappear. i mean the bulls' evaporation after their second threepeat is usually pinned on jerry krause wanting to remake the team in his own image but i think jackson's stoned blissful routine was the wrong one in a lot of ways at that exact time. not saying the bulls were liable to continue to win titles every year but there was no reason for them to turn into the worst team in the league for half a decade. i think a stronger coach who was better at handling issues in house would have perhaps kept that team together, i think a lot of what happened is on him. and the way he handled kobe and shaq, i mean imagine how Pop would have dealt with that. this is obviously ridiculous to think in a lot of ways about a guy who won 11 titles...but i think there were drawbacks to Jax that were always very obvious, but winning with 3 top 20 all-time players (and Kobe) plasters over a lot of holes in that resume.

yeah are people under the impression this deal is bad for...the suns??
― k3vin k., Tuesday, 20 June 2017 19:49 (nine years ago)
xp yeah i just see his awful GM tenure and his insistence on running an outdated offense and it makes me question how much he really knew about basketball in the first place
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)
is matt still defending phil or did he give up last year i forget

― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:15 (nine years ago)
sure go for it
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:48 (nine years ago)
the main obstacle to something like that working is the ncaa will just start paying players the minute their business is threatened
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:51 (nine years ago)
win win
― down that brown path (Spottie), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:52 (nine years ago)
good, fuck the ncaa
― micah, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:53 (nine years ago)
yeah just seems like itd be hard to get the ball rolling since a new league wld require investment and whos going to invest if the ncaa will just counter by paying players
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:54 (nine years ago)
perhaps amazon netflix et al
― micah, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 20:56 (nine years ago)
yeah i could see some non-broadcast outlet with $$$ try to get in on live sports
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 21:05 (nine years ago)
now that i think about it another flaw in the plan is a huge part of the popularity of college athletics is peoples emotional/cultural ties to individual schools, the actual sports product isnt that great, if u take the schools away a lot of people wont watch, like no one wants to watch minor league baseball
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 21:09 (nine years ago)
basically
― nice cage (m bison), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 21:11 (nine years ago)
that is an issue, seems like the idea would have to be opening up new audiences and letting the ohio states and louisvilles of the world soldier on with lesser talent.

fact check: american football is immoral
― nice cage (m bison), Tuesday, 20 June 2017 21:38 (nine years ago)
way more innovation happening at that level and unique talents given the opportunity to thrive outside of the NFL dogma
college basketball no real reason to watch that over the NBA unless you have an attachment to a team

m bise otm

college basketball is also the most unpredictable sport around. no lead is safe, the tournament is super dramatic and surprising
