im not stoked on the celtics trading a #1 in a year that has a clear #1 player
otm. such draft years are rare.

or from another pov not being able to get him to lose weight or play the game in a way that makes sense for his body is a failure of development xp
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:38 (nine years ago)
not much to add except there's already a contingent of weak-ass celtics fans quaking abt the sixers "core" of guys who have basically never played nba ball.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:38 (nine years ago)
if those players were on the celtics id have confidence that theyd turn out good ;-]
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:39 (nine years ago)
criticisms of hinkie's drafting obv otm i will also say the way he churned through random dudes expecting talent to miraculously surface without patience, continuity, and playing time was a true sign that he doesn't really get basketball.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:40 (nine years ago)
lol ainge abt to trade that #3 for paul george isnt he, confident that hell be able to talk him out of his lifelong dream to play for the lakers, i wish one day to achieve if only for a moment that level of self esteem
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 19:54 (nine years ago)
tbf he does have a very good argument against the lakers, but still dannys a gambler lol

i still maintain that the lakers are gonna panic overpay for PG in a trade

https://www.celticsblog.com/2017/6/18/15826864/wojnarowski-paul-george-informs-indiana-pacers-will-leave-2018-boston-celtics-free-agency-trade-nba
George is from Southern California and can get a four-year, $130 million deal from the Lakers. Although they will have $15.6 million in cap space next summer per Bobby Marks of The Vertical if they clear their non-guaranteed deals and renounce free agents like Julius Randle, they would be willing to surrender future picks or prospects to get rid of Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov’s contracts to clear room for George. It would be a difficult task, but most likely feasible.
George is angling for a deal with the Lakers this year, who can offer Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and future picks. They would not part with DeAngelo Russell, Brandon Ingram or this year’s pick, as they have enough leverage with George signaling he is heading their in free agency. This means the price drops for Boston as well.
While the Celtics have the assets to overpay for any star, they may not need to in this scenario with most other teams scared to trade for George out of fear that he will make good on his alleged commitment to go to the Lakers. Magic Johnson would max out George without question, so any team trading for George has to sell him on the promise of spending the rest of his career competing for the title. Boston can pull that off if they sign a major free agent this offseason or make another big trade.
If the Celtics are bidding against the Lakers, they may be able to get George on the cheap if the Lakers aren’t putting up a decent offer. They can build a package around one of their high picks, Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart. This gives the Pacers a building block pick to replace George, a point guard to replace free agent Jeff Teague, and a swing to replace George in the short term. Compared to the previous price Boston would have paid, this may be a fair compromise. A package like that would have to happen during the offseason and give the Celtics a window to negotiate an extension, formally or informally, like the Cleveland Cavaliers did with Kevin Love when he was traded from Minnesota for Andrew Wiggins. Boston would not commit any significant draft assets without a long-term commitment from George.

they def cld or george cld scare all the other teams off by refusing to sign w them and the pacers wld be forced to take the randle-clarkson pupu platter
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:14 (nine years ago)
its so crazy that they signed both deng and moz to full 4 years contracts that a huge problem for them
if they had signed them to the same amount of money over two years and a team option third they wld actually be useful as cap filler for getting a deal done, as it is now no ones gonna touch them and theyre maxing the lakers out lol

if the price gets low enough other teams will jump in the bidding even just to get PG for one year and gamble on convincing him to stay. that will bring the price up and force the lakers to come over the top.
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:19 (nine years ago)
if my reward for trading paul george is jordan clarkson's longterm deal and the option to give julius randle his first max extension i might just decide to tank
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:21 (nine years ago)
pacers shd just trade paul george to anywhere but the lakers out of spite
― nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:23 (nine years ago)
i just wonder if anyones gonna offer enough to force them to put one of their key dudes into the mix or even if they do if the lakers wont just say fuck it and wait to sign george next year, tho as described in that article the lakers wld have to give up a lot to sign him cause they screwed themselves by giving moz n deng free money
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:23 (nine years ago)
ha bradley-crowder is actually a better deal than clarckson-randle, yeah the lakers might be screwed
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:25 (nine years ago)
they cld still wait it out tho
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:26 (nine years ago)
prob wldnt be that psyched to have paul experience a year of winning basketball while the lakers win 25 games tho
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:27 (nine years ago)
IT-george-horford is...a team i guess
― nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:27 (nine years ago)
honestly would rather have bradley and crowder instead of george
― nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:28 (nine years ago)
celtics need another creator bad
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:29 (nine years ago)
i mean maybe they want to keep bradley idk i just made up that trade
also they have room to sign another max guy if they shuffle things right
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:30 (nine years ago)
ill take paul george
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:31 (nine years ago)
the ideal offseason wld be to sign hayward and trade for dre jordan but thats prob insanely unlikely who knows if either of those guys are even available
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:31 (nine years ago)
celtics cld easily look like
horfordgriffingeorgebrownthomas
to start next season, which is a lot of talent but also kinda dubious fit wise
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:33 (nine years ago)
blake is scary

for sure
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 20:55 (nine years ago)
i would not want to sign blake to a long-term/big money deal at this point.

I can only imagine how unhappy pg would be to be taken prisoner by ainge and this is a dude who is so unhappy anyway that he busted up his own team once and wants to play for a trash laker team and subjected me to the lamest Gatorade commercial over and over these playoffs, don't do it Danny

I would love Blake if he weren't made of glass, I think that guy is primed to get our from under cp's constant heckling and has a few monster years left, but it's just not a good gamble w his health
― gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Sunday, 18 June 2017 21:09 (nine years ago)
I'm in he Hayward / butler or bust train to complete this group, two durable dudes at their peaks
― gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Sunday, 18 June 2017 21:10 (nine years ago)
Ha whoops looks like butler usually plays high 60s for games with a couple of full years, not that durable I guess

pretty compelling argument tbh
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 21:17 (nine years ago)
between the celtics and the sixers all of the capital being exchanged at the top of the draft was acquired by making trades with insane, desperate teams making immediately ill-fated moves
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 22:02 (nine years ago)
Russillo Verified account @ryenarussillo 21s22 seconds agoMore Was told last week that the Cavs are one of the only teams that won't care about George long term. That is the threat IND needs to get LA in
i was thinking also but a. if it's true that lebron has his eyes on LA, i'm not sure bringing him and PG together a year early in a diff city is a great idea b. the cavs have exactly nothing to trade except love, and trading him for just 1 season of PG would be a bit crazy i think
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 22:18 (nine years ago)
lol if lebron bullies the cavs into trading for pg then elopes with him to LA a year later
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 22:33 (nine years ago)
wld make the decision look like a big picnic
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 22:34 (nine years ago)
yeah maybe that's their longterm lebron strategy. "if we trade for PG he couldn't possibly leave with him for the same team a year later right?"
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 22:43 (nine years ago)
i believe in the 'celtics actually want tatum' conspiracy now
― ciderpress, Sunday, 18 June 2017 22:59 (nine years ago)
jaylen brown + jayson tatum + gordon hayward could be pretty legit on the wings
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 23:02 (nine years ago)
why do people keep talking like hayward is already on the celtics when he is going to re-sign with the utah jazz
― ciderpress, Sunday, 18 June 2017 23:08 (nine years ago)
I feel strongly that rumors about lebron going to LA are complete bullshit
― marcos, Monday, 19 June 2017 00:56 (nine years ago)
