Ainge in 2015 on if there’s such thing as too many picks: "No, because picks are always tradable; players are not. Picks are always assets."

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 02:57 (nine years ago)

picks are beautiful, picks never leave you

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 02:58 (nine years ago)

yeah i mean there's literally no precedent for adding 6 first round picks to a roster over the course of 2 years so it's not a matter of if a trade happens but for who

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:05 (nine years ago)

i don't hate this trade for philly either. fultz is great and if fultz-ball had gone 1-2 there was no ideal pick for them at 3

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:06 (nine years ago)

you gotta have someone who wants to dance tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:07 (nine years ago)

yeah maybe there's a slight reduction of leverage since teams know ainge has to do something. then again they could trade a team 4 first round picks over the next two years and still have the normal number of first round picks after that so i think they can make something happen if they want.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:13 (nine years ago)

yeah if i had to bet id say they have a big trade in the pipeline right now

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:20 (nine years ago)

this seems bad

Clarification on deal: Besides its 2017 FRP, Philly sends '18 Lakers pick w/ protections. If it doesn't convey, 76ers send 2019 Kings pick.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 18, 2017

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:26 (nine years ago)

thats only two picks folks

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:26 (nine years ago)

sixers did well here i think

nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:27 (nine years ago)

just gonna wait til all the facts r in i guess

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:27 (nine years ago)

two picks is not enough tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:28 (nine years ago)

a lot is gonna depend on what the protections are

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:29 (nine years ago)

even w no protections two is not enough, theres gotta be more

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:30 (nine years ago)

Celtics will get Lakers pick if it falls between 2 and 5 in the 2018 draft, per league source. If not, the Celtics will get the Kings in '19

— Derek Bodner (@DerekBodnerNBA) June 18, 2017

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:33 (nine years ago)

prediction: they'll get that lakers pick

The Celtics' overflowing backcourt also factored into their decision to pass on Fultz, sources say.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:56 (nine years ago)

uhhh this is so depressing

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:59 (nine years ago)

dislike

call all destroyer, Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:05 (nine years ago)

guess this means they're all-in on isaiah?

danny believes terry rozier will be mvp within the next five years

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:12 (nine years ago)

this seems bad

k3vin k., Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:15 (nine years ago)

it cld def still workout for them like they cld get the 1 and two picks in next years draft or make some sweet trades but in isolation it seems bad

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:16 (nine years ago)

Fultz will be a monster. This trade makes 0 sense.

Allen (etaeoe), Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:40 (nine years ago)

ainge loves too do picks

nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:43 (nine years ago)

i think he might have a gambling problem

nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:43 (nine years ago)

after 5 minutes of thinking about it on a short night's sleep this is a p. clear sign that taking the pick had been a fallback option for a long time. they want to sign one all-star and trade for another before they need to extend isaiah. whether the trade is now with the #3 pick+ or next trade deadline with choice of brown/jackson plus other picks that's the plan.

problem is the only guy who is worth it and in a bad situation is davis and if he's actually available it means everyone in new orleans has gotten fired.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 18 June 2017 04:44 (nine years ago)

draft xpress has the celtics taking tatum http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 12:58 (nine years ago)

i actually think that's likely, but only if the lakers take jackson.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 18 June 2017 13:26 (nine years ago)

i think i like tatum more than jackson

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 14:10 (nine years ago)

feel like this trade must just come down to ainge didnt believe fultz has superstar potential, seed him as more of a solid allstar ceiling guy

lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 15:01 (nine years ago)

i've verbalized this to varying degrees over the past 3-4 years but there's a good chance we're gonna look back at the process and think of it beignets wildly successful

k3vin k., Sunday, 18 June 2017 15:38 (nine years ago)

*as being* wildly successful

k3vin k., Sunday, 18 June 2017 15:38 (nine years ago)

It will be a v bad take tho. Lots of teams have piled on young talent after years of terribleness without spending years deliberately sabotaging the team and making a completely unwatchable product to get there.

nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 15:40 (nine years ago)

gotta crack some eggs to make an omelette

k3vin k., Sunday, 18 June 2017 15:55 (nine years ago)

Uh that's five years or so of bad eggs

nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:07 (nine years ago)

it's 4 years where their chances of being contenders dropped from 5% to 0%

k3vin k., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:30 (nine years ago)

and now look nicely positioned to wait out lebron in the east

k3vin k., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:31 (nine years ago)

the problem w/ the process was not the process but the picks

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:33 (nine years ago)

basically every lottery pick in the 2015 draft aside from mario hezonja has more trade value than okafor right now

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:34 (nine years ago)

even a fully healthy core of fultz-simmons-saric-embiid doesn't make sense

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:35 (nine years ago)

embiid is probably not tradable and they're not gonna move simmons or fultz so i guess the clock is ticking on saric already? the entire thing is a mess honestly

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:36 (nine years ago)

i think i like tatum more than jackson

jackson seems more like what the alleged ainge player has been recently in that he's a great athlete with tons of defensive potential who can't really shoot. him and jaylen brown would be terrors on the wing but tatum is prob more complimentary. personally i hate jackson's shot and would prob take tatum yeah.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 16:43 (nine years ago)

uh basketball teams are businesses that needed to sell tickets and merch and they put an absolutely garbage product out for years, that needs to go on the L side of the column and be accounted for in assessing hinkie.
