yeah i mean that seems like a blatantly crazy trade by the sixers lol
― J0rdan S., Friday, 16 June 2017 23:30 (nine years ago)
i guess one problem the sixers have is that ben simmons is a total non-shooter & saric despite his reputation really wasn't one either last year. and the two best shooters in the draft are projected to go 1-2. still tho i'd just sit there and take dennis smith jr or something.
― J0rdan S., Friday, 16 June 2017 23:33 (nine years ago)
feel like the sixers are so ready to move past the process they cld do something crazy
― lag∞n, Friday, 16 June 2017 23:36 (nine years ago)
it does appear that way doesn't it
the process remains fascinating even just for the fact that the sixers are still a team with 4 big men picked in the top 10 which regardless of anything else is not going to simply resolve itself
― J0rdan S., Friday, 16 June 2017 23:39 (nine years ago)
ainge just going for the gming degree of difficulty - getting the top three picks in next years draft while fielding a playoff team

yeah the biggest flaw in process theory is that players are just fungible assets
― lag∞n, Friday, 16 June 2017 23:42 (nine years ago)
yeah and also the idea that you could draft too many players at one position and not end up devaluing the "assets" that get lost in the shuffle
― J0rdan S., Friday, 16 June 2017 23:45 (nine years ago)
btw sidenote the celtics have this guy who a lot of ppl think wld be a top 10 pick coming in this year https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2017/06/16/meet-celtics-prospect-ante-zizic
― lag∞n, Friday, 16 June 2017 23:53 (nine years ago)
yeah that guy is apparently good now
― ciderpress, Saturday, 17 June 2017 00:05 (nine years ago)
celtics shd shoot for having jaylen brown be the oldest player on their team by this time next year
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 00:09 (nine years ago)
Hearing this could wind up being a 3-team trade between Philadelphia-Boston-Chicago including Butler, Okafor and lots of picks https://t.co/D6QcLkFRZZ— Jonathan Wasserman (@NBADraftWass) June 17, 2017

"I don't know what I'm about to do next season," Jefferson said. "The only way I would come back would be if these m-----f-----s figure this s--- out.
― brimstead, Saturday, 17 June 2017 01:41 (nine years ago)
Jefferson had a neat little end of career as a 50 year old basketball player but I kinda hope he retires this year
― marcos, Saturday, 17 June 2017 01:50 (nine years ago)
lol sixers and lakers falling all over themselves to get out of the spot where they'd have to make a decision on lonzo ball.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 17 June 2017 07:10 (nine years ago)
This is wild
I have a theory that ainge is trying to create enough chaos that he can end up with a decent pick for this team plus some good picks in 18 and 19 and maybe a reasonable trade for core player x right now
And then suddenly he has this team: isiah horford player x and some yungins ready for 2-3 years when really he's building the next team featuring none of these guys for like 2021

Trading down and ending up with josh Jackson gives me Jeff green type vibes tho
― gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Saturday, 17 June 2017 11:07 (nine years ago)
One thing I know is I want no part of watching jahlil okafor on a regular basis
― gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Saturday, 17 June 2017 11:09 (nine years ago)
taking fultz def the safe way to go but getting two picks that cld potentially land the #1 in next years draft is a pretty appealing risk (if thats really whats on the table)
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 14:26 (nine years ago)
the upside of fultz is like... james harden but with dywane wade's athleticism and defensive ability
at worst he's maybe damian lillard but can bring it on the defensive end? he looks like he'll be a pretty good player

― J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 June 2017 18:48 (nine years ago)
if the celtics plan on committing to IT longterm tho i could see why they'd be ok passing on him. it's not like they're starving for guards right now.
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 June 2017 18:49 (nine years ago)
the only risk i cn see w fultz is he worked a lil harder to get shots off than youd like in college, he uses lots of moves where youd like to see him dominate w superior athleticism, hes a legit #1 pick but not really an elite one imo
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 19:17 (nine years ago)
hes prob the most skilled 19 y/o ive ever seen, he can already do all the basketball things which is crazy, but im not sure if that means he doesnt have as much room to grow or hes just a freak skillwise and will keep getting better
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 19:22 (nine years ago)
also i saw someone speculate that based on his crazy long arms and huge hands he might still be growing
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 19:24 (nine years ago)
hope they take him tbh
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 19:26 (nine years ago)
me too, too strong a draft position to come away with a guy w/a questionable shot.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 17 June 2017 19:33 (nine years ago)
yeah betting on fultz over IT seems like the smart way to go (and the ainge way to go)
― k3vin k., Saturday, 17 June 2017 19:34 (nine years ago)
imo theres not too much conflict between the two considering their ages and the fact that fultz shd have no problem playing the 2

this is a good point tho i think a certain portion of it has to do with the fact that he played on a bad team that provided him no spacing in the halfcourt. if you watch a lot of his drives there's 5 guys huddling around him in the lane.
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 June 2017 20:15 (nine years ago)
given his shot, size, athleticism, and activity on the defensive end it's hard to imagine him not being really good
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 17 June 2017 20:16 (nine years ago)
yeah true re his team being bad
― lag∞n, Saturday, 17 June 2017 21:38 (nine years ago)

Sixers needed Fultz workout/meeting to complete deal w/ Celtics and, as expected, sides have deal for No. 1 pick. Trade call planned Monday.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 18, 2017

whats the damn deal tho!!!!
wait if they're finalizing before the draft... what happens if the Lakers take jackson
― ciderpress, Sunday, 18 June 2017 02:31 (nine years ago)
maybe ainge doesnt care idk, seems like this is maybe more about getting a great return than jackson idk obvs total speculation
― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 02:39 (nine years ago)
maybe he wants ball lol
why doesnt anyone know what the fn deal is
Lakers had interest in pursuing a deal for No. 1 pick/Fultz, but Sixers ability to potentially deliver 3 FRP's in deal too much to overcome. https://t.co/9aBUwqVMiq— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 18, 2017

wld be cool w two picks and saric tho

i do not like this word protections
sixers get: no. 1 pick, picture of jim carrey 69ing himself (digital reenactment)boston gets: no. 3 pick, 2018 1st rounder, 2096 5th rounder, michael jordan rookie card (poor condition, big crease in the middle), half-eaten roll of rolos

― lag∞n, Sunday, 18 June 2017 02:58 (nine years ago)
yeah i mean there's literally no precedent for adding 6 first round picks to a roster over the course of 2 years so it's not a matter of if a trade happens but for who
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 18 June 2017 03:05 (nine years ago)
i don't hate this trade for philly either. fultz is great and if fultz-ball had gone 1-2 there was no ideal pick for them at 3
