seems unlikely even if they do keep the pick fultz is still just a kid

more likely they get rid of smart or rozier or something

celtics have both their own and the nets pick next year

the nets are somehow in worse shape than if they were an expansion team

i don't think any team in any sport has ever been in a deeper hole than them

i think it lays out for the celtics perfectly for them to just not really do anything. they're the second best team in the east and can also set themselves up to take the throne once lebron eventually tails off. i still don't see the point in rushing it.

I'm no bball expert, so someone plz explain why this Celtics/Nets trade was not a violation of the Stepien rule.

casue on alternating years they traded not picks but the right to swap picks, so this year the nets will get the celtics pick (27th) and the celtics will get the nets pick (#1!!!), next year the celtics get both their own pick and the nets pick, lol

it's not a slam dunk or anything, but assuming the next are top 3 bad again next year, the celtics in 4 years (when lebron is 36) could have three top 3 picks with 3+ years of experience under their belts. i just don't see how you can pass that up.

that said this is the nba and top-5 talent is like logarithmically better than aggregating top 20-5 talent

agreed. i just keeping coming back to how the top 3 teams are holding (arguably) 4 of the top 5 players in the league. most surefire path to contention is finding a steph, a kd, a kawahi, a james harden who doesn't have weird dark secrets.

on another note i look forward to lonzo ball being a tantalizing but frustrating talent, none of the other young lakers turning into stars, and a couple of 35-win seasons

unless the warriors get broken up somehow i don't really see the argument for trying to win in the next 2-3 years unless you have no other option

right now the lone formula for beating this current iteration of the warriros is "superhuman performance from perhaps the best player of all time", to say nothing of getting past that guy in the first place

it's honestly a testament to the level of NBA discourse at the national level that an article as bad as this can provoke such surprise. trading the pick for george is probably the dumbest idea i can think of

i would say the celtics should probably "offer" the first pick to indy to use that as leverage against the lakers and encourage them to make that trade but really that helps an in-conference opponent at the expense of an out of conference opponent, even if it is the lakers
