call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 02:44 (nine years ago)

MANUUUUUU

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 02:50 (nine years ago)

wow

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 02:51 (nine years ago)

the anticipation on that block was unbelievable

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 02:51 (nine years ago)

a playoff game coming down to a jumpball is pretty cool, feels very oldschool somehow

muse on and dominate (Clay), Wednesday, 10 May 2017 02:51 (nine years ago)

lolol, manu is magical.

feel like we must have been close to a record for missed 3s

circles, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 02:53 (nine years ago)

Rockets took 47, that may be a record in itself

The Spurs drafted Ginobili when James Harden was 10 years old.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 03:08 (nine years ago)

lol nice

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 03:11 (nine years ago)

Lol dantoni will never beat pop

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 07:01 (nine years ago)

Harden was dreadful

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 07:13 (nine years ago)

that was obv a huge block from manu but pop can't be happy about him leaving his feet to contest that shot from behind, since he probably fouls harden more often than he blocks the shot

k3vin k., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 14:22 (nine years ago)

yeah i had the same thought, he was really lucky the timing was right

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:00 (nine years ago)

Partially lucky but the w timing of it all manu knew that was the only shot he had and he had to shoot it right then

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:29 (nine years ago)

yeah he saw the whole thing perfectly, incredible play

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:32 (nine years ago)

and harden who always looks to draw a foul didnt even consider the possibility

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:33 (nine years ago)

harden def looked like he stuck out his butt and flailed a little after the block, if manu doesn't get ball harden might get the call

k3vin k., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:35 (nine years ago)

the block was appropriate tho as manu is actually harden's dad in many ways

k3vin k., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:35 (nine years ago)

he flailed afterward but util the block he had no idea manu was lurking

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:36 (nine years ago)

game saving blocks are one of the coolest plays

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:36 (nine years ago)

Yah

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:37 (nine years ago)

btw harden was so fucking cashed at the end of that game, having the ball in his hands so much is a lil problem

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:38 (nine years ago)

def. hakim warrick yo

k3vin k., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:38 (nine years ago)

Harden was so gassed

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:40 (nine years ago)

sensing a mini-trend where PGs spend so much time with the ball these days that in a playoff game with intensity and short benches even guys whose conditioning is good are running out of gas. same thing happened to wall in game 2.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 15:44 (nine years ago)

also if manu hadn't attempted that block harden was getting a clean, very wide open look at a three. i wonder what the expected points would look like for him taking that shot vs taking three free throws. if harden had a worse look i'd be more willing to buy kevin's argument.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:11 (nine years ago)

yeah i was thinking abt the same also what are the chances of fouling my back of the envelope linear regression concluded that going for the block and not going for the block were of roughly equal value but then when i factored in sporting triumph and not being a fn coward nerd going for the block was clearly the superior play

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:16 (nine years ago)

harden shoots 85% from the line (let's say 80% given fatigue), so the chance that he scores 3 points to tie is (0.8)^3 or 51%. if you give him 85% the chances of him tying from the line go up to 61%. plus there's the possibility you foul him on the shot and he gets a 4 point play opportunity

versus he shoots 35% from 3

k3vin k., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:23 (nine years ago)

the hard part is whatre the chances of success/fouling on the block attempt tho

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:34 (nine years ago)

yeah but you can't figure the chances of blocking successfully are too high esp for an old guy like manu

not saying i didn't love the play just saying i'm sure pop said something. i think standard coaching up 3 is to contest but avoid fouling

k3vin k., Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:41 (nine years ago)

the play got a lot easier cause of the clock situation

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:46 (nine years ago)

if my coach tried to say anything to me after a play like that (i am an nba player in this realistic scenario) i wld put a nerf hoop over his head and dunk on him until he died

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 16:47 (nine years ago)

His position was prime tho to block the shot. Directly behind takes away the chance of hitting arm by a pretty significant margin. If I was pop I'd be more mad about the end of regulation. Which lol he was

Spottie, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 17:15 (nine years ago)

lol he was v mad at pau

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 May 2017 17:19 (nine years ago)

horrible possession.

yeah this was the other thing i was gonna say. it's the most advantageous position to attempt a blocked shot, and also the way harden shoots he keeps the ball right above his head. it was basically teed up for manu, literally.
