That would work

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 11 May 2017 23:48 (nine years ago)

I'm lovin it

CHICAGO -- New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson reiterated his belief that Carmelo Anthony should waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to a team in position to contend for an NBA title.

"We'd like him to have success,"Jackson said during a break in the action at the NBA draft combine. "The opportunity is narrowing. We'd just like him to have success somewhere. We're not going to be there. Hopefully, we'll be maybe a playoff team next year. It would be tough to consider us a possible champion."

nomar, Saturday, 13 May 2017 11:23 (nine years ago)

more than anything i want melo to say publicly that he isn't waiving his no-trade but would be fine with getting released.

2017 first round draft pick to Philadelphia
L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Philadelphia (via Phoenix) protected for selections 1-3 in 2017 and unprotected in 2018 [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012; Milwaukee-Philadelphia-Phoenix, 2/19/2015]

2019 first round draft pick to Orlando
If the L.A. Lakers convey a 1st round pick to Philadelphia in 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will convey their 2019 1st round pick to Orlando; if the L.A. Lakers do not convey a 1st round pick to Philadelphia in 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando [L.A. Lakers-Orlando, 8/10/2012]

holy shit if the lakers fall out of the top three tonight they also lose their 2019 first to orlando

lag∞n, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 13:29 (nine years ago)

what a weird set up how did that happen

lag∞n, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 13:29 (nine years ago)

so it looks like it's revolving around the rule that a team can't trade consecutive first round picks. so if they don't lose their first tonight, they have to lose their first next year, at which point i think the deal with the magic falls into some kind of statute of limitations on firsts 7 years out.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 14:26 (nine years ago)

ahh

lag∞n, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:40 (nine years ago)

the harden thing is weird.

Spottie, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:29 (nine years ago)

always thought of him as a dude who would make bad decisions off the court, but not really sure why

if he knew about the pending legal action it could explain his game 7 performance

k3vin k., Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:32 (nine years ago)

hm yeah good theory

Spottie, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:33 (nine years ago)

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:51 (nine years ago)

there was some article a couple of off seasons ago iirc that detailed his routine and entourage, i could be misremembering but i remember being slightly concerned after reading it

k3vin k., Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:57 (nine years ago)

yeah but the Jenkins piece from this year said he stripped down his crew quite a bit.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:44 (nine years ago)

if a team fall out of the top 3 the representative should be pied in the face

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:45 (nine years ago)

these r all good ideas

lag∞n, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:46 (nine years ago)

in this situation you have to understand that the tv host would be like "now from charlotte it's the bee, now the hornets want to return to the playoffs, what kind of player would help you reenergize the franchise" and in response the mascot would silently do silly mascot stuff xp

Clay, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:46 (nine years ago)

they should set up a trampoline so the winning mascot can do a sick dunk

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:47 (nine years ago)

oh i did not know the lakers could lose their pick if they fall out of the top 3, now i've got a horse in this race

LOL the knicks

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:51 (nine years ago)

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 17 May 2017 00:52 (nine years ago)
