CHICAGO -- New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson reiterated his belief that Carmelo Anthony should waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to a team in position to contend for an NBA title.

"We'd like him to have success,"Jackson said during a break in the action at the NBA draft combine. "The opportunity is narrowing. We'd just like him to have success somewhere. what a weird set up how did that happen

so it looks like it's revolving around the rule that a team can't trade consecutive first round picks. so if they don't lose their first tonight, they have to lose their first next year, at which point i think the deal with the magic falls into some kind of statute of limitations on firsts 7 years out.
