If true I'm liking the direction

Spottie, Thursday, 11 May 2017 03:23 (nine years ago)

Yah that 80s logo is the best- they should probably just revert full to it, I had to look at it side by side with this one to see that it's actually a little different. Fits into the simplified logo trend now

Nothing will ever top the insane 90s chrome horse with vanishing perspective, it was even late to the sports-wide teal party. Hard to come up with a worse logo change

This Nuggets logo was something:

https://d2p3bygnnzw9w3.cloudfront.net/req/201611141/tlogo/bbr/DEN-1985.png

The '84 Nuggets averaged 120 points per game.

both the new portland and detroit marks have cute lil like motion serifs on the first letters of their names, combined with the overall minimalism it looks kinda cartoonish, like its for kids, imo theyre both well executed but im not totally feeling the vibe

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 16:24 (nine years ago)

that nuggets logo and particularly the uniforms are all time

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 16:24 (nine years ago)

tho doing a lil online research both teams have employed similar serifs in the past

blazers is always good yea glad they are moving away from locking it into that black rectangle tho. let it breath.

Spottie, Thursday, 11 May 2017 16:35 (nine years ago)

yeah i mean u can still put it in a rectangle if u want theres no need for it to be part of the spec

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 16:36 (nine years ago)

i really want a design job with an nba franchise. the suns were hiring a creative director like the same day I started my current job and it was snatched up within a couple days :/ one of my friends is on the design team there now, he gives me the lowdown on the inner workings. sounds like it could be pretty rewarding/frustrating. Like they outsource the big campaigns/themes/redesigns to big local agencies/firms so they get stuck doing some of the less sexy work. now theyre trying to wrangle back control of the bigger initiatives. i think they assigned him the jersey updates (theyre updating some of the alternates or something) for the upcoming season hes all pumped about it. but then again he works for r0bert s@rver.

Spottie, Thursday, 11 May 2017 16:51 (nine years ago)

ya wld prob be cool, typical corporate frustrations aside, free tix at least

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 16:55 (nine years ago)

yeah he got me into a handful of games this year. four seats lower bowl for every home game not bad

Spottie, Thursday, 11 May 2017 17:00 (nine years ago)

damn thats real good

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 17:00 (nine years ago)

im sure $@rver will strip that way back when they get good again lets be honest

Spottie, Thursday, 11 May 2017 17:01 (nine years ago)

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 17:02 (nine years ago)

it seems like basically 1 guy/firm has done all the NBA rebrands of the last several years

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 May 2017 17:07 (nine years ago)

feel like i read somewhere that their are two companies that basically get all the work

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 17:08 (nine years ago)

i was thinking of something from zach lowe's article on the wolves rebrand

"They kept saying it was too over the top," said Rodney Richardson, owner of Mississippi-based RARE Design, the consultant who conjured the sleek new logo the Wolves unveiled tonight. "It didn't represent the area, or who they are as people."

Richardson, who designed current logos for the Hornets, Grizzlies, Kings, Hawks, and Pelicans

cant remember which but one of the good new rebrands was done in house. im a career in-house designer so im obv all about this approach. agenices charge a ton of money, talk in circles and fluff things up to be more important than they should be. and rich execs eat, it, up.

Spottie, Thursday, 11 May 2017 18:00 (nine years ago)

yeah agencies are all about sales and the decisionmakers love to be sold to

lag∞n, Thursday, 11 May 2017 18:02 (nine years ago)
