lag∞n, Sunday, 30 April 2017 02:49 (nine years ago)

is there a free agent who has signed with the knicks or nets who didn't say, "I came here to win"?

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Sunday, 30 April 2017 03:09 (nine years ago)

jeremy lin?

nice cage (m bison), Sunday, 30 April 2017 03:48 (nine years ago)

Well Marbury and Carmelo just wanted to go home xp

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 30 April 2017 03:49 (nine years ago)

Like marbury was pretty open about just wanting to be back near Coney Island

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 30 April 2017 03:49 (nine years ago)

https://theundefeated.com/features/paul-pierce-leaves-imprint-on-nba/

pierce will actually probably be the most forgettable HOFer of his era

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 18:44 (nine years ago)

http://bkref.com/tiny/wkZaL

pretty crazy how similar their numbers are. pierce is basically a slightly worse version of melo

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 18:54 (nine years ago)

pierce better on ts%, efg%, off and def rating, etc. it is close but he was a better shooter, more efficient, and actually played in the finals a couple times.

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:06 (nine years ago)

not gonna read that undefeated piece but i do agree pierce won't be a beloved HOFer outside of one market.

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:07 (nine years ago)

kevin k a slightly worse version of whoever is the worst at trolling

lag∞n, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:16 (nine years ago)

pierce was definitely a better defender. melo will probably age better tho. melo's peak also higher

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 19:16 (nine years ago)

fwiw when i suggested that melo was slightly better than PP i was assuming his last 4-5 years would be a smoother decline than pierce's. could be wrong

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 19:20 (nine years ago)

pierce was kinda fun as the 4 on that wizards team. kinda.

Spottie, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:22 (nine years ago)

pierce also generally doo-doo in the playoffs

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 19:22 (nine years ago)

also better shooting %s, net ratings, etc. than melo in the playoffs lol

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:34 (nine years ago)

i am not exactly a melo fan

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 19:37 (nine years ago)

i'm just struggling to find a meaningful number where he looks better than pierce in the playoffs. i'm open-minded to the idea but it's not really happening.

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:40 (nine years ago)

well when i said he was doo doo in the offs i meant in general for a HOFer, not necessarily in comparison to melo. i assume the reason his PER is lower than melo's is mostly due to higher usage and lower turnover percentage

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 19:43 (nine years ago)

er, lower usage and more turnovers

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 19:43 (nine years ago)

ah ok, that may be true re: general HOFers.

call all destroyer, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:45 (nine years ago)

pierce has a pretty big lead there in the regression-based advanced stats due to slightly higher efficiency and better defense. PER is a witches brew and i don't buy it in general.

i don't really know where the bar is for the basketball hall of fame these days.

ciderpress, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:54 (nine years ago)

i think his heroic return within minutes from a devastating knee injury that would have crippled lesser players for a season or two during their finals win was certainly legendary

nomar, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:57 (nine years ago)

remember when he got stabbed in the neck and face in a nightclub? i always forget that.

nomar, Monday, 1 May 2017 19:58 (nine years ago)

looking the recent HoF classes now, pierce is pretty far above the bar. if this was baseball he'd probably be one of the guys who has to sweat it out for 5 years before people let him in. we're more inclusive with our HoF over here.

ciderpress, Monday, 1 May 2017 20:01 (nine years ago)

guys like melo and pierce probably wouldn't make it in a baseball style hall. melo is basically steve garvey and pierce is like...kirk gibson?

k3vin k., Monday, 1 May 2017 20:22 (nine years ago)

Paul Pierce has had a lot of big moments, many that Raps fans in particular won't forget. He was rarely a top 5 player in a season statewide but he was definitely memorable

lettered and hapful (symsymsym), Tuesday, 2 May 2017 02:51 (nine years ago)

liked this video from coach nick. i loved stockton too, lol pvmic

k3vin k., Tuesday, 2 May 2017 03:50 (nine years ago)

Paul Pierce is top 20 all-time in scoring. Would a guy who was top 20 all time in hits not make the baseball hall of fame?

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:24 (nine years ago)

iirc the guy who is #1 in hits in not in the baseball hof

Clay, Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:33 (nine years ago)

Yah the goat isn't in baseballs a mess

Spottie, Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:34 (nine years ago)

you can't compare 1:1 like that between those sports because baseball teams carry twice as many players and has a way longer history. the 50th best baseball player ever is probably a lot better at baseball than the 50th best NBA player

that said a good answer to your question would be rafael palmeiro, who is 26th all time in hits and might not have made the HOF even without the PED stuff

xp lol

k3vin k., Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:34 (nine years ago)

baseball is terrible, why are we talking about the baseballs

nice cage (m bison), Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:37 (nine years ago)

literally none of the mlb players have ever dunked, all of them are disqualified from the halla fame

nice cage (m bison), Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:38 (nine years ago)

"the 50th best baseball player ever is probably a lot better at baseball than the 50th best NBA player"

I would hope so

lettered and hapful (symsymsym), Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:38 (nine years ago)

mike trout dunks

k3vin k., Tuesday, 2 May 2017 04:38 (nine years ago)

http://www.blazersedge.com/2017/5/2/15527350/brandon-roy-shooting-report-los-angeles-la-king-5

Brandon Roy was maybe ... shot?

Clay, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 05:41 (nine years ago)

yikes

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 May 2017 05:46 (nine years ago)

KCBS in Los Angeles reports about 20 people, including several nieces and nephews, having a barbecue in the street. They were watching children play basketball in the 2000 block of North Nestor Avenue about 9:30 p.m. when two men walked up and opened fire without saying a word, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The suspects fled the area.

Roy was standing next to his six-year-old niece, according to the girl's grandmother. He put her in a bear hug and took her to the ground. In the process, he was shot in the hamstring and butt.
