mavs stumbled into a handful of young guys in noel, curry, the inexplicable hbarnes, that could form the core of a decent team given a few years of development, cohesion, and no rondos. not gonna beat the world but the post-dirk era is maybe starting to come into focus. not sure how they get back into the conversation unless one of these dudes makes a serious leap but at least the franchise is making sensible moves lately

The Noel deal is kind of crazy tbh, do teams hate his knees
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 28 February 2017 23:29 (nine years ago)
i guess teams are spooked by having to give him his first big contract but he's only 22
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 1 March 2017 00:48 (nine years ago)
I really wish the nuggets could have gotten him, would have been perfect I think
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 1 March 2017 00:50 (nine years ago)

― Matt Armstrong, Friday, 3 March 2017 00:53 (nine years ago)
he could Average like 5-6 boards with minimal effort
― Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Friday, 3 March 2017 02:08 (nine years ago)
remember seeing a study a while ago about what makes players good rebounders and the thing that had the highest correlation with getting lots of rebounds was trying to get lots of rebounds

A lot of rebounding is technique and boxing out but Barkley once said "I see the ball and I go get it"

― lag∞n, Saturday, 4 March 2017 04:19 (nine years ago)
Basically there are just two major parts to rebounding: getting close enough to the ball so you can grab it and keeping opposing players from getting close to the ball so they can't rebound it. Anything that applies to rebounding well fits either one category or the other.

spottie, you looked confused but this is a reference to the fact that the warriors had a 3-1 lead in the 2016 nba finals but lost three games in a row to lose the 2016 nba finals to the cleveland cavaliers

feels like draymond is the frontrunner for DPOY w Gobert in 2nd Kawhi in 3rd. id be down with any of those three winning it but draymond has a few 'game saving' plays to his credit this year.
