anyone think oden wldve been better than kd even if he stayed healthy
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:49 (eight years ago) link
not to mention there were tons of red flags re his health before the draft

the best draft ever

the record of everyone in the world at predicting whether a draft is strong or not is very bad

it's true that most drafts end up with at least a handful of very good (and above) players but like compare 2013 to 2015 and i think people's reads on those drafts will end up being correct
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:51 (eight years ago) link
this is unconscionable cherry picking and a fallacy jordan i demand a retraction
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:52 (eight years ago) link
what's crazier, vonleh being picked at 9 then or him having a decent amount of minutes in the 2nd round of the 2015-16 playoffs, against the friggin warriors?
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:52 (eight years ago) link
the only outright bust in that top 10 is probably stauskas - rest aside from wiggins and parker (and...maybe gordon? idk?) were just overrated. but yeah, def not worthy of the hype level it commanded
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:54 (eight years ago) link
wiggins was really overrated
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:55 (eight years ago) link
vonleh really not that bad in the grand scheme of things
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:55 (eight years ago) link
jury still very out on a number of those guys
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 16:56 (eight years ago) link
which i guess makes sense considering it was only 2 years ago
a down low potential horrible pick is hezonja i forgot he went #5
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:02 (eight years ago) link
he seemed so fun what happened
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:02 (eight years ago) link
maybe theres still hope idk
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:03 (eight years ago) link
he's a 21 year old euro gotta give him some time im just saying if he turns out to be a quasi-bust it looks like they passed on a bunch of really good players
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:05 (eight years ago) link
i think skiles might've broken him, but there also may not have been much to break
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:06 (eight years ago) link
he didnt play a ton this yr but when he did he didn't really do anything
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:16 (eight years ago) link
his shooting %s were fine he just didn't really shoot much
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:18 (eight years ago) link
he gets a one year pass for skiles
― moistest hoist (Spottie), Tuesday, 21 June 2016 17:19 (eight years ago) link

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.
― System, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 00:01 (eight years ago) link
sounds like most of the 'rumored' deals were never really on the table, only the sixers are interested in the pick
i think drafting bender is correct at this point but if they don't like him then i'd rather they get okafor than draft someone else
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 15:57 (eight years ago) link
brown has major upside potential imo
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 15:59 (eight years ago) link
i voted trade for noel btw
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:00 (eight years ago) link
i could see them caving and making the okafor deal. brother brad made evan fucking turner into a capable defender - i think he could make okafor passable at worst on that end of the floor and with the team's other defensive strengths passable to decent is fine?
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:02 (eight years ago) link
oh noel is good too either one is fine
brown seems like just another low-efficiency guy to throw on the pile idk
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:03 (eight years ago) link
he did a lot of really good stuff for a rookie just not shooting but his shot doesnt seem broken and hes physically a basketball superman
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:04 (eight years ago) link
apparently they were more interested in nerlens, which i can sort of understand although additional scoring is a more pressing need for the Cs imo
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:05 (eight years ago) link
nerlens is also from boston which boston teams seem to like for some reason
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:07 (eight years ago) link
lol in that case should've drafted shabazz napier at the 16 spot in 2014, roxbury native
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:08 (eight years ago) link
nerlens cld be p dominant filling the rim protection/dive man roll on a functional team imo, a slender tyson chandler if u will, wld be a huge coup for the c's
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:09 (eight years ago) link
the fact that everyone is so down on okafor as a person and he played the type of basketball that someone who is deserving of everyone being down on them as a person would worries me as does phillys willingness to move him after one season in which he in many way did pretty good, but that cld be an opportunity too if he is capable of cheering up and playing basketball the good way it wld be a huge steal
cause he is very talented and young and played for a dysfunctional team/org his rookie season
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:10 (eight years ago) link
yeah its hard to evaluate whether a guy has a higher gear when they're playing on a 9-73 team
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:11 (eight years ago) link
i like noel but not sure how much he helps them get better on offense which is really what they need to do.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:11 (eight years ago) link
i think the celtics need the scoring a lot more than the rim protection atm
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:12 (eight years ago) link
hes just a good player w valuable skills hed prob move some the needle on O via being able to catch and finish athletically at the rim but def has more value defensively, feel like u just take a player like that and then figure out how to make it work
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:14 (eight years ago) link
not that the sixers have shown much interest in trading him
w noel they cld conceivably go from a very good defensive team to a great one too
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:15 (eight years ago) link
the sixers would be crazy to trade noel for the #3 pick if the celtics could get that they shouldn't think twice
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:17 (eight years ago) link
ya i dont think they wld
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:18 (eight years ago) link
the okafor stuff never made sense to me, he just doesn't seem like the type of player (back to the basket post man who can't play defense) the celtics are going after in the stevens era
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:19 (eight years ago) link
if they wanted a guy like that they wouldn't have turned jared sullinger into a 300 pound stretch 4
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:20 (eight years ago) link
okafor can shoot and faceup and roll too tho, hes a v skilled scorer, doesnt really need to post up all the time to be effective
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:21 (eight years ago) link
however things like playing defense and passing and knowing what a good shot is have so far eluded him
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:24 (eight years ago) link
sullinger is terrible in the post btw, cant jump, lol
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:25 (eight years ago) link
nerlens would make tons of sense for them as a guy who is a pure roller/alley oop finisher but who can defend the rim out to the three point line on defense. that's the kind of center the rest of the roster is built to accommodate.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:27 (eight years ago) link
if i was danny i'd offer the kings #3 for cauley stein
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:28 (eight years ago) link

rumor now is they're shopping 12+21 around, i think they just didnt like teague for whatever reason
Schroeder is ready and it seemed like maybe he'd passed Teague
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 20:42 (eight years ago) link
Oh sorry. Yeah one of the reasons this draft sucks is some guys waited for 17.
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 20:43 (eight years ago) link
I think his rookie season went fine considering his role. He had a couple breakout games when they started him. Big thing with him is turnovers. Stan Johnson and Winslow didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Yes would trade
― gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Thursday, 23 June 2016 16:10 (eight years ago) link
We're well stocked on 6-5 to 6-8 somewhat above average swing men and also combo/semi point guards, there are glaring spots available for a rim protector/pnr roller, true stretch 4, and generic superstar, turning a mediocre pick into one of those would be a score
― gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Thursday, 23 June 2016 16:12 (eight years ago) link
lol philly has disavowed the process but theyre still forced to behave in a process like manner cause the process only bothered to draft frontcourt players
― lag∞n, Thursday, 23 June 2016 16:13 (eight years ago) link
srsly abt to trade their most nba ready player to draft a risky point guard
― lag∞n, Thursday, 23 June 2016 16:16 (eight years ago) link
hinkdawg was interested in length to a borderline unhealthy degree; the only normal-sized human he drafted was MCW

if the celtics do get noel i wonder if he'll leave gatorade, weed roaches and poop all over the apartment he rents http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/report-nerlens-noel-accused-of-doing-really-gross-things-to-a-rental-home/
