2016 NBA Finals — Warriors vs Cavaliers

my hope is that lebron winning this title will teach us not to make sweeping assumptions about guys careers when they still have so much time left but i'm not optimistic

i feel the same way but i think the opposite side of this coin is true as well -- i think it's fair to say that lebron has declined a bit and his value over the course of an 82-game season is no longer the highest in the league. and his jump shot is still broken -- he was very fortunate to string together a few great shooting games when he needed to. all that being said it's also clear, as it is every year, that playoff basketball is not the same as regularl season basketball and lebron has another gear he doesn't really need to use during the season

my main point is that this series could very, very well have been over in 5 games -- had draymond not been suspended, say -- and the narrative would be quite different even though nothing had changed

they were not that good this year and so much drama and they still never really got a scare for the #1 seed

I think you’re right intuitively, but LeBron’s playoff statistics are outrageous:

- Second in points
- First in steals
- Tenth in 3-point field goals
- First in win shares
- Fourth in blocks
- Fourth in free throws
- Second in rebounds
- Second in assists

Good point. And an under appreciated point. Hell, they had a mid-season coaching change to a new coach.

lebron becoming a hero and steph becoming a villain was not something I foresaw in this series, I guess maybe bc I never thought cavs would win though it seemed like that transformation happened well before game 7

I'm long on record as a jr hater mostly because he seemed to have an extraordinarily low ball iq esp in proportion to his raw talent but he was really good for this team this year, you kind of need a dude who not only has no fear but probably doesn't even really understand what fear is to come in and just knock out threes like he did

tbh i don't think steph is the main villain, i think GS as an org just became so easily hateable so quickly at some point. i loved watching them for awhile and idk what happened, i think after awhile they anointed themselves prematurely and got caught slipping.

The angle of his attack, the distance he traveled, the speed, if there's such a thing as an unguardable block that was it, like there was just no way to see it coming and change the shot or pass
