t. thompson must have completely disappeared in the second half based on the box score

call all destroyer, Saturday, 11 June 2016 03:58 (ten years ago)

another thing that game left me feeling is that tristan thompson has an obvious identifiable upper echelon skill in offensive rebounding and when a team is playing relatively half assed like the dubs did in game 3 it can really feel like it's altering the game. but in a game like tonight where a (good) small lineup is really busting its ass they can get enough of boards (on either end) between effort and the way the ball bounces to more or less neutralize that advantage.

which isn't meant to be a diss at tristan as much as a just a comment on the nature of rebounding when it really matters

draymond still committing Nut Subterfuge

ciderpress, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:01 (ten years ago)

poor brownie

mookieproof, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:02 (ten years ago)

wow draymond really testing my theory that nut punchers such as chris paul are morally indefensible

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:02 (ten years ago)

xxxp yeah it just doesn't seem like he can affect a 48-min game through offensive rbs even though it seems disastrous when he gets a couple in a row

call all destroyer, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:03 (ten years ago)

half of their guys are unplayable on one end of the floor.

yea it is super frustrating

marcos, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:03 (ten years ago)

it's too bad that game sputtered out at the end cuz for the first 3.5 quarters it was maybe the best game i've seen this season game 6 WCF included

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:04 (ten years ago)

also as magical as it can be to see kyrie make these impossible layups after dancing to the rim, when he starts running failed attempts play after play in crunch time it gets super annoying

marcos, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:07 (ten years ago)

yeah all of a sudden the clock turns to midnight and he's a pumpkin again

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:09 (ten years ago)

he really is one of the most insanely skilled one on one offensive players in a long time tho

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:09 (ten years ago)

Dubs D in the second half was incredible

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:09 (ten years ago)

Now that the dubs are up 3-1 and the Finals are effectively over, I wish someone would explain to me why letting both teams physically maul each other, by grabbing, bumping, and grappling one another is presumed to be a better, fairer or more exciting brand of basketball than the usual brand, where defenders are required to move their feet or make clean shot-blocks, and offensive players are required to set stationary picks, not commit traveling. How would enforcing the accepted rules of basketball make the NBA Finals less of a test of the players and coaches?

This irks me deeply about every NBA finals I've ever watched. I want to see skills, not muggings. I want to see "amazing", not mud-wrestling. imo, changing the officiating standards during the playoffs sucks balls. It always has and it always will.

Lebro got what was coming when he tried to nutmeg dray

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:14 (ten years ago)

you know what else sucks are 9pm games jeez I have to go to bed my 1 year old is up in 4 hours

marcos, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:15 (ten years ago)

funny you say that considering the argument that the warriors wouldn't be able to hack it in the old rough and tumble NBA

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:15 (ten years ago)

warriors can play tough pretty well def

marcos, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:16 (ten years ago)

The reffing tonight was atrocious.

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:17 (ten years ago)

Both sides

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:17 (ten years ago)

it was called super tight in the first half and then in the second half they let them play didn't they

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:22 (ten years ago)

The players in the old rough and tumble nba smoked, drank and were in a lot worse physical shape than the modern nba players. both the warriors and the cavs would be like gods in the NBA of 1975. but they'd both have to hire one brawler to be the designated brute who knocks out teeth when the opposing team plays dirty. it was how you protected your stars.

Loved the chippyness

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:26 (ten years ago)

i thought that game was really intense and in no way marred by it

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:30 (ten years ago)

you can be intense and not hack, set moving picks or travel.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:35 (ten years ago)

Yeah they just flat out weren't calling anything but at least it wasn't one sided

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:37 (ten years ago)

i mean, u can expect things will get sloppy in the finals from nerves. so u can either call it tight and slow the pace down and make it much more halfcourt, or u let em play and occasionally see dudes get scrote-punched

6 god none the richer (m bison), Saturday, 11 June 2016 04:38 (ten years ago)

so, the argument seems to be that refs swallowing their whistles makes for more exciting hoops because the pace is faster when nobody shoots free throws, regardless of the infractions on the court. maybe for the average fan, sure, I can see that. I still don't like it. it's like, I know what hoops is when played right and this game where infractions happen but not consequences is not quite real hoops to me.

those barnes threes tonight were v important. 4/5 overall from three

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 05:33 (ten years ago)

really really want to know what curry and lebron said to each other

brimstead, Saturday, 11 June 2016 05:40 (ten years ago)

curry said he was griping about not getting a foul and he said bron thought otherwise

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 05:42 (ten years ago)

The Warriors are now 16-2 from Game 4 on in a series the last two years. Note for Monday's Game 5: They're 10-0 from Game 5 on.

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 05:52 (ten years ago)

booooooring

Dave McMenaminVerified account ‏@mcten

According to a source familiar with the spat between LeBron James and Draymond Green, the trigger word was DG calling James a "b*tch"

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 05:55 (ten years ago)

"ahma make you a batch of cookies"

De La Soul is no Major Lazer (ulysses), Saturday, 11 June 2016 06:34 (ten years ago)

def seem like kyrie was playing hero ball in that 4th Q

their offense stagnated and they blew all their defensive assignments lol

, Saturday, 11 June 2016 11:41 (ten years ago)

^ sorry that is a captain obvious post but man u start to appreesh how the warriors and spurs keep on moving the ball even in clutch situations

, Saturday, 11 June 2016 11:57 (ten years ago)

Was Cleveland just tired in the 4th?

Interpretive Jigglypuffery (Leee), Saturday, 11 June 2016 14:08 (ten years ago)

Maybe. The bron never came out

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 14:58 (ten years ago)

Warriors tightened their defensive game in the 4th for sure.
it was very enjoyable to see LeBron reduced to baiting Draymo to get a technical and then that hand blowing thing as a followup.

Spottie, Saturday, 11 June 2016 17:33 (ten years ago)

thinking draymo won't get suspended again. upgraded to a tech and thats it probably?

Spottie, Sunday, 12 June 2016 02:41 (ten years ago)

if i were a devious NBA string-puller i would do it now to get the Cavs another win

Nhex, Sunday, 12 June 2016 02:55 (ten years ago)

still think the warriors would own even w/o dray in g5, curry's gonna go super saiyin

6 god none the richer (m bison), Sunday, 12 June 2016 03:01 (ten years ago)
