i only wear new balance

ciderpress, Friday, 3 June 2016 22:26 (ten years ago)

most contempo basketball shoes are so out of my realm of aesthetic appreciation anyway but im gonna disagree just on principal

lag∞n, Friday, 3 June 2016 22:30 (ten years ago)

what do you wear to ball in?

Spottie, Friday, 3 June 2016 22:33 (ten years ago)

not sure if i buy that the east is going to remain this easymode path to the finals for the rest of the decade, it'll prob still be true next year but theres a lot of moving parts in the nba and player contracts are relatively short. steph curry is only signed for 1 more year. strange things can happen.

ciderpress, Friday, 3 June 2016 22:35 (ten years ago)

shamefully ive been wearing these nike running shoes that actually have p decent cross train ability like i lift in them too but prob been playing enough where i shd prob just get some basketball shoes

Spottie, Friday, 3 June 2016 22:48 (ten years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 3 June 2016 22:51 (ten years ago)

KD should sign with the Cavs if he wants an easy in to the Finals.

lag∞n, Saturday, 4 June 2016 00:54 (ten years ago)

the doris burke article was good i was surprised to learn pop is sexist

, Monday, 6 June 2016 13:12 (ten years ago)

maybe not surprised but u kno

, Monday, 6 June 2016 13:12 (ten years ago)

he does come off as a bit of an asshole

micah, Monday, 6 June 2016 13:17 (ten years ago)

i do not think that interview showed that pop was sexist

k3vin k., Monday, 6 June 2016 15:04 (ten years ago)

good interview tho, doris is great

k3vin k., Monday, 6 June 2016 15:04 (ten years ago)

Well, that does remind of what happened with you and San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich, when he wouldn't answer your questions besides saying “turnovers.”

Yeah, and me choking back tears?

Yeah, I remember being very happily surprised that you admitted vulnerability after that. You’re like Hillary Clinton in that people expect you to prove toughness in a way that men don’t need to.

Yes, yes, displaying a level of strength and a lack of vulnerability, because that’s what a prerequisite of the job is, when, in actuality, all of the things that make us human will help us do that job better. I’ve been expressing my vulnerability because it’s the truth. I was literally on the verge of tears. And my take on that Popovich situation has changed. We all used to give him a pass because he would say to us privately, "Well, I just can’t help myself. I’m in the game, and this is my job." But I don’t give him a pass anymore. It now frustrates me to the point where I want to say, "I’m not giving you a pass because I’ve seen you when Jeff Van Gundy walks over there, and the interaction is totally different."

, Monday, 6 June 2016 15:16 (ten years ago)

yeah i read the interview

k3vin k., Monday, 6 June 2016 15:30 (ten years ago)

life would be a lot easier and our problems solved a lot quicker if it were valid to reflexively ascribe malice to individual actors part of a situation as complex and at times ugly as doris' story breaking into the NBA, but it's not. i do understand that a substantial subset of the internet believes that this is the way it works, tho

k3vin k., Monday, 6 June 2016 15:35 (ten years ago)

good job at equating casual sexism with active malice, way to move the basketball ring

, Monday, 6 June 2016 15:37 (ten years ago)

if you think that anecdote shows pop as being "casually sexist" based on a comparison of one interview with doris and the way he interacts with a former colleague, then god bless

k3vin k., Monday, 6 June 2016 15:40 (ten years ago)

the point of the story wasn't pop's sexism it was...systemic sexism in sports and media

k3vin k., Monday, 6 June 2016 15:41 (ten years ago)

WOW Curry isnt playing in the Olympics :(

Spottie, Monday, 6 June 2016 16:34 (ten years ago)

not surprising, his health is still kinda questionable

ciderpress, Monday, 6 June 2016 16:37 (ten years ago)

J0rdan S., Monday, 6 June 2016 16:39 (ten years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 6 June 2016 17:08 (ten years ago)
