like i went to florida for a week immediately after the game (it was planned, i'm not rabbit angstrom) and i was like 'maybe i'll just move down here and become a magic fan'.

like i'm of two minds w/ horford - love the dude, an all time hawk, gotta spend that money anyway and who else is out there, and keeping him probably does something positive in terms of fostering a 'culture' or something, but at the same time i think about what he's gonna be like in the last year, two years of whatever contract he gets and idk. like trade teague sure, yes, esp if you can get a comparable but younger piece (and orlando's roster is such a mishmashed ill-fitting collection of assets that i look at it and think 'maybe we can get him, maybe we can get this guy'), but i'm not crazy about the idea of truly blowing it up unless you can really put yrself in a great position in terms of building something and getting assets and the trade deadline made it clear that ain't happening (i mean say we trade millsap - what does that do for us? o boy now we can draft buddy hield?). and as much as i can't even imagine what this playoffs does for the hawks in the minds of georgia sports fans (really can't overstate how much a factor it is that the hawks/falcons/braves/dawgs routinely year after year never show up when it matters) i can't think that taking a drastic step back just when you've kinda established yrself as one of the two or three best teams in the east and one of the ten best teams in the league would really help them, not unless they got some piece that screamed 'the future is ours' but it's not like ben simmons is coming.

i guess its a mental thing, probs be worse for the players confidence to be starting the half with 3

i always assumed it was to preserve rotations in the 2nd half and keep yr options open, obviously if a player's gonna commit 6 fouls in x minutes then you're still getting x minutes out of them regardless of when, but you don't want to get into a situation in the 4th quarter where your flexibility in defending or attacking certain lineups is reduced due to foul outs.
